Did the UK see the "My name is Amy" prologue?

I know this has probably been discussed to death, but I'm particularly dense this evening and can't seem to find it.

When Impossible Astronaut aired on BBC America and Space, the opening credits were preceded by a very US-style "My name is Amy Pond..." intro setting the scene for the series. It appears to have been a one-off as it wasn't on Day of the Moon. I know it raised a few eyebrows as being somewhat out of character for the series.

My question is - was this indeed only seen in North America, or was it also seen in the UK? I've been getting mixed messages and I myself have made the statement in a forum that it was only seen in North America - but now I'm not so certain.

So a quick yay or nay, I guess - did the UK see it?

At this point I'd include a YouTube link or something for anyone going "what's he on about" but the only online version I can find that has this intro is the streaming version on the Space channel's website, but is useless to folks in the UK. (I could track down a download of the episode, but I don't want to waste time downloading what might just end up being the US or Canadian version).

If it was a North America-only thing at first, I'd be curious to see if Australia and New Zealand get that version too, and if the intro might be included on the DVD later for the benefit of UK viewers...

No we dont have this in the UK, didnt The Beast Below start with a similar line, as the Doctor held Amys foot, whilst she was out in space?

I guess its a bit like the Cylde Langer intro the Sarah Jane Adventures.

Going by a friend's Facebook post they got the prologue in Australia as well.

Really short and non long winded answer to a well, rather long and long winded question: ;)

No.

Yeah it didn't air in the UK and seems to be only for the North American broadcasts and was meant to be a joke on recaps.

It wasn't meant to be a joke. It was to bring NEW American viewers up to speed on Doctor Who. BBC-America had been heavily promoting the show in major cities. There were posters on the side of NYC buses and such.

I thought it was well-handled. It was concise and to the point and summed it up well.

^ That's actually a very concise summation of the show in the space of a few seconds.. Interesting.

The placement of it is horrible, though. It really ought to appear before the pre-credits teaser segment of the episode, not in between the teaser and the credits.

We've just had it again in Canada which I guess means that the U.S will have it too.

After having it with "The Impossible Astronaut" and not having it with "Day of the Moon," BBC America had the Amy narration again for "Curse of the Black Spot."

Yeah, that was kind of weird. I wonder why they didn't show it last week.

I don't mind the intro. I understand why it's there. But I agree with Sci that it would be better placed before the episode begins, rather than after the teaser (it just ruins those...whatever you call that sound effect that leads into the credits ...moments).
