Did anyone get a Windows 10 invite?

My Radeon is 7 years old. Cards are expensive. So, I'll have to continue using my current card. It should work out, and if it doesn't, there's always Linux. :p

If the card is working with the beta it's pretty much a guarentee it's going to work with the full release.

You only pull things from beta when they don't work or have the potential to cause trouble down the track.

If something is working well to pull it at the last minute would be illogical (not to mention you're gonna piss a lot of people off).

I've got my Radeon working properly which is nice because I'm back to dual monitors and keeping the card saved me money on my last build.

Yep. In fact, I got a notification that AMD just updated their drivers for Windows 10, including the ones for my card. I now have them for when I get Windows 10 here in a few weeks.

In any case, nVidia supports their cards going back 5 years or so. If you're using a 5-year-old video card, it may be time to upgrade!

Hey I am still getting good frame rates on my games so why should I have to change.

I like my current card. It does everything I need and more

Well, if it's too old to have a Windows 10 driver, and you want Windows 10, then it doesn't do everything you need anymore. ;)

Well I purchased this card in 2012 so I think I'll be fine.

Windows 8 and 8.1 ran with no issues to I suspect I'll be OK

Apologies if this has been asked. Will Dell, for example, have Win10 drivers for a laptop from 2011?

I'm talking about the endless number of Dell specific drivers. I know the have them for Win8. Is Win10 close enough to Win8 to make no difference?

I'm running Win7 now, and have been very happy with it. If support ends for Win7, it could take a while to be a real problem, but eventually I would have to upgrade the OS.

Presumably if your laptop updates to Windows 10 it will bring the drivers along with it and therefore the Windows 7/8 drivers will work.

Looks like anyone who wants to try the Windows 10 preview before it goes full release may have missed out.

It's being reported that Microsoft has closed of the previews and won't allow any more activations.

My system did an update to 10162 but that looks like it's going to stop there until the RTM.

No reason was given for the action but I guess MS might want get any feed back on last minute issues and take care of them but then that at 2 weeks to RTM might be too late for that.

My system is nice and stable and seems to be taking up less space. I did an inplace upgrade from 8.1 and I've gained an extra 10GB of free space on my C: drive so it will be nice to see if stays that way (no SXS folder bloat would be nice :)

I dunno. The mail app is still missing several vital features. And something that I bought from the store on a lifetime purchase is now an annual fee and wants over double what I paid.

It's pretty stable, but I'm starting to think hard about moving to Android. Especially as I can get a basic Office app there now. I'm on the so-called 'final build' of 10240. So far there have been 3 or 4 patches in the last 12 hours.

10240 was going fine but now I can't access the start menu or the using the search from windows key + S.

Think it's something I've screwed up with my profile because it works fine for the admin account on this computer.

Silly me.

It is insisting that I use my password when I wake it from sleep, despite the setting being at 'never'. Tweetium is still glitchy. The mail app is next to useless as I have to use webmail to purge spam and deleted items. I'd say it's not nearly ready yet. :(

I'm not worried. They have 12 days left. As long as people are reporting these bugs, I think they'll squash them before showtime.

The Mail app problem isn't a bug it's that the features are lacking, and this is the RTM, so it's feature complete. People have been reporting the lack of select all, empty deleted, purge spam, etc for months and there's still no change.

Hmm, it may just be lower in the priority queue. I guess we'll just have to hope they iron it out before the big day.

There are no touch screen mail programmes. If you're using the touch interface, you need something touch friendly. There are almost no mail apps in the store. 'Proper' mail programmes such as thunderbird are almost unusable by touch.

Added to which, the average user - someone like my sister for example - will want to use the built in app.

Why would anyone use the inbuilt mail app and not a proper email program?

because for most people that's all they need - a simply program that will tie into the gmail/hotmail/ISP mail/whatever.

Windows has had a built in mail client since Windows 98 but back then and for several versions it was called Outlook Express and had security holes you can fly the death star through.

It was re-vamped to Windows Mail when Vista came out and has gone from there.

Oh, that's right, you're using a tablet! Bob's RT comment got right past me. Yeah, Windows 10 isn't upgrading RT devices until September. They're focusing on desktop versions right now, since that's what is releasing on the 29th.
