Did anyone get a Windows 10 invite?

and use my mobile data. It did work for all of 30 minutes and then after that Whatever I have tried I just can't connect back to the phone. It just won't do it. It works fine with the wifi part of my modem / router but just won't connect back to my phone anymore..

It sounds like you ate up all your mobile data in those thirty minutes. Have you checked how much usage you've done on the phone?

I did and I still had some left over. It was just it could see the phone in networks but it could not connect to it. I ended up stamping on it in frustration..

Purchased a new Netgear adapter and that worked right out of the box and had zero problems, apart from my phone turning wifi sharing off when it was idle too long.. Other then that worked well.

I did find this in my modem settings. I wonder if this really is what I think it is if so will this also work with my phone. See attached image.whatisthiswindow.jpg

Hello.

I recently picked up an older laptop for cheap to serve as a second pc. It was short about 200 important updates and have finally got them all installed.

Now I see the "Get Windows 10" message. That message is the "Downloader", correct? So long as I do not ever click on that then I am safe from W10 downloading then being automatically installed, correct? Should I get the Never10 protection, just in case, is it reversible?

It's just, that pc is working fine now for what I need it to do so I don't want to do anything to change it unless I absolutely have to.

How come it's not SteamOS?
According to ARS Technica, this is why: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/...gnificant-performance-hit-for-steamos-gaming/

ARS Technica said:
No matter how you slice it, running these two high-end titles on SteamOS comes with a sizable frame rate hit; we got anywhere from 21- to 58-percent fewer frames per second, depending on the graphical settings. On our hardware running Shadow of Mordor at Ultra settings and HD resolution, the OS change alone was the difference between a playable 34.5 fps average on Windows and a stuttering 14.6 fps mess on SteamOS.

Seems like every time I run Windows Update on W7 now, there are 2 or 3 "preparatory" updates in the "optional" category that want to "get me ready" for the Windows 10 upgrade. The most insipidly pervasive "GWX" one keeps reappearing as a new KB number (seen it at least 3 times now wearing different clothes) since people keep ignoring it. I hide them all as a rule now and check out the details every time new ones become available. It's probably only a matter of time now before they start re-categorizing W10 upgrade files as "critical", forcing the matter even further. This new version of Windows really has shown a darker and more insidious side of Microsoft than I've seen in a while. Between that and pushing all the "cloud" bullshit, they really want to impose themselves on their users' lives; I really find it quite disturbing and deepening my already profound distrust with Windows in general. Sadly, MacOS is not much better any more. :(

Yep. I used it to get rid of the GWX spambot the first time. But Microsoft has gotten slimey and attempted to reinstall it as a whole new update with a different KB number. Now I put all "optional" updates on hide to avoid them entirely. They're almost all W10 prep files anyway. I generally feel like I have better things to do than keep on top of these silly spambots. :)
