Did anyone ever feel this way growing up?

Did anyone ever feel this way growing up, when watching TOS that you wanted the episode to continue when the credits started to roll?

I remember very much that kind of feeling, but then I was 11 or 12 at the time but I loved scifi shows and TOS was on repeat nearly all the time on one channel or another here. But I remember that feeling when the credits started to roll I didn't want the episode to end and wanted just one more adventure. I had to wait till 1983 for that to happen when we got our first VCR and that was a National Panasonic NV300 top loader. Then I got my wish..

I seem to recall thinking that certain episodes ended a little abruptly, though at this point I'd be hard-pressed to say which ones.

Not exactly, but something similar when I was a teenager and got a book that told me what episodes were out there that I hadn't seen. When I thought I was getting close to one of them, I would get pretty excited with anticipation. I would keep checking the VCR to make sure it was all set to record.

Oh yeah I can relate to that. Over here Trek was on repeat on nearly all the commercial networks at one time or another and two of those channels were brutal for cutting scenes to fit in more ads...

There was one, pardon the pun, enterprising sole who made friends with the local television film editor. When the editor tore out scenes from each episode he would give them to this man. What a fantastic way to get TOS clips without buying them from Lincoln Enterprises.

I tried asking that when my Dad and I visited WUTV once in the mid 1970s, but the guy politely said "No, we have to return those clips with the episode." His tone was like, "Nice try."

Incidentally, Lincoln was selling 35mm film frames, while the beat-up syndy prints were 16mm if I'm not mistaken-- real small. I bought a bunch of Lincoln frames and loved every one of them.

I had a few 35mm clips when I was a young kid. One day while I was at school, my mom cleaned my room and the clips ended up in the trash.

The BBC cut the shows or at least a few of them to bits with some scenes that didn't make much sense if you tried to analyse them! But I began recording the soundtracks in 1978 so for me the show was never over! I upgraded to videoing the episodes from Omega Glory on in 1980 and ended up having nearly 30 episodes on tape by 1982!!! :techman:

Yeah, I do remember feeling that way when an episode ended. Sometimes, I get that nostalgic feeling as I watch the end credits (and I do sit for the entire end credits through the logo). For some reason, the second season theme is the one which I most closely associate with that feeling and other feelings of 70's rerun nostalgia. Luckily, back then, the next episode was usually just one day away - Trek ran on WPIX 6 days a week. If it was when we had the antenna rotor, there was one on at around 4 ion WTNH n Connecticut and then at 6 on WPIX. Sunday, I'm pretty sure (I have to double check my old TV Guides) was Trekless. Then in the 80's WPIX ran it 5 nights a week, with WVIA in Pennsylvania running it Saturday night started at 11:30 for three episodes back to back. I got the entire series on tape right quick at that point.

But yeah, some episodes I loved so much, I had such a sad "my friend is going home" feeling as the credits rolled.

However, if it was a Saturday, Space:1999 was up next and I was thrilled.

A Private Little War maybe...and with the Enterprise Incident i was like "Whats the catch?"

Could be that the episodes that struck me that way were ones that had been cut for time. I wish I could provide more specifics, but I'm talking about feelings I had when I was seeing them decades ago. :)

Actually feeling sorry that a particular showing was over is something I only recall for The Spy Who Loved Me. I went out to see it three times that summer (1977) and it was never enough. I'm sure most Star Wars fans felt the same thing that year.

Yeah I've read about that before and it seems weird to play both shows together to be honest!

I remember that in 1980 the BBC showed Requiem for Methuselah and because it started late due to whatever they clipped most of the opening credits (they always showed Trek's credits before the teaser in the UK) and it came on with a flash and the ship coming towards us with Starring William Shatner....
