Design the Next Enterprise

I'm really hoping that when it comes down to selecting the top 25, the official judges just go back through the entire mass of submissions themselves, because this voting thing is utterly worthless.

I'm wondering if "top 25" really means "top 25 eligible"...because it makes no sense for designs that go against the three judging categories stated in the rules to move on past the first stage of the contest.

looks like someone has butchered a copy of Sean's entry :scream:
fucking cocksuckers . . . sorry I've been watching Deadwood

I also marked it as offensive.
Hopefully their database has a log of upload date/time so duplicate entries like that can be weeded out . . .

I've submitted a ticket to cryptic about this. I wrote the following:

Ever since the launch of this contest, I and many others have noted a number of multiple entries, plagiarisms and alterations of existing fan designs used as entries by people who are not the original authors.

An example of this is "Erik Bloodaxe", who has submitted a kit bashed version of "Titan Designer's" work.

On top of this, the design of the site is clunky at best, and broken at worst. Navigating all the submissions is nearly impossible and viewing the ones that are there are difficult due to arbitrary size constraints and minuscule photos.

I believe the point of this contest was to encourage creativity and garner promotion for Star Trek Online and Intel, but as it stands, its only fostering image theft, and the worlds foremost computer chip manufacturer has their name plastered over a website that doesn't work properly.

I am sure you are aware of these issues, and I hope you are taking steps combat the spam, stolen images and functional errors that are evident on the site. As a member of the United Kingdom, I am ineligible to take part in this contest, and am simply writing this in the hope that a fair and balanced contest can be achieved that allows the hard work and talent of people who have spent time and effort creating original works will have their entry rewarded, and people who have simply stolen images from others will be dealt with accordingly.

Hopefully that got the point across.

Well said. We're lucky this wasn't a writing contest you folks across the pond could enter.

Wow, finally saw a design worthy of consideration (from someone other than fellow board members) checkout #854 by Micah Brooks. Very intriguing!

0_0 - Not to disrespect the folks here, but I love that design.

well I submitted mine . . . it's not finished, just a basic line drawing and a quick paint sketch
gets the point across, though

I agree #854 is great! Needs different nacelles though.

:( somebody's submitting John Eaves stuff

The Eave's stuff are concepts for that own game. Im sure Cryptic are aware of what's actually theirs :p

(Although technically I guess those designs are from when it was over at perpetual, but they inherited it so they should know whats what).

Backstep nice work. And 854 is also very impressive. Now that is what we need in the contest real work and not hacks and steals of other designs.

Hey, Titan Designer. Someone took your submission, added a couple of nacelles and guns to it then submitted it as their own.

Design #844
Erik Bloodaxe
