Design the Next Enterprise

Just a heads up folks....my design may show up under someone elses name. Do not be alarmed. I just really wanted a crack at it and a good friend who has the fortune of living in the states has offered to put it up for me.

Wish him (me) luck... ;)
Can we have the name so we can vote for it?

Is anyone else getting this message?

"You have already voted for this entry today. You may vote again tomorrow."

I'm getting this and it's my first time voting, ever. My girlfriend got this message too, first time. Is there something wrong with the system?

There's a system now? Why wasn't I told? ;)

I was thinking I might take a crack at a new Enterprise. I don't normally DO the Enterprise, mind you. So, I took a concept I had been working on (my "longship") and made a few changes to try and give it a "Big E" look.

Here's where I'm at today (it's JUST a sketch, mirrored & cleaned up in some places with Corel Painter Sketchpad - I don't know how to use the fancy drawing tools):

(On the OTHER hand, who needs fancy drawing tools? Have you people SEEN what Andy Probert can DO with big ol' blobs of paint on the ends of sticks?)

I like that a lot, and it actually makes evolutionary sense if the Enterprise-J from ENT truly is a future version of the ship.

So, is that a vestigial engine hull in the back, or just a shuttlebay blister.... pod.... thing.

It's definitely wild and experimental, and if I don't like the length, I can deal with it and let it grow on me, like what happened with a lot of old guard fans when they saw the -D.

is it flat? or is there some sort of vertical arrangement?
I would hope it isn't flat, because such an elongated design would be pretty boring from any angle other than a steep angle :D
I like the lines on it

Not bad. (I toyed with your image a little.)

is it flat?

My sketch is paper-thin.:p

I'm working on a side view, and yes, keeping it flat is boring, as I've just discovered...

The engine pylons will curve up. I'm thinking it's going to have a very thin keel on the underside - I'm looking to sailboats for some kind of inspiration.
