Although it would be real sad, I think Denny Crane should die on the last episode...it would be real tear-jerker to see Denny die..and then Alan Shore's name replacing Denny's on the letter head...what do you think?

His last words would be looking up to Alan: "It was... fun. Oh my..."

Then they'll make a Boston Legal prequel where James Spader comes back but they won't bring back Shatner because Crane's dead. :p

Actually, I've always felt that Denny will die by somehow falling off the office veranda. Or if he doesn't die, he'll still fall off the veranda. And SOMEHOW it'll involve gunplay as well.

Don't know if they'll make the actual death a "tearjerker". I would prefer an absurdly "Denny" kind of death.

Perhaps a construction "crane" by the "Denny" company will fall on him.

Alan (to a dying Denny): What happened to you?

Denny: (dying breath) Denny crane. Oh, my.

Yeah, it should be an absurdly over-the-top outlandish death--Denny Crane style. Something involving nudity, guns, of course, and possibly a large explosion. And Alan can give him the proper send-off when it's all over.

A character like Denny deserves nothing less.

They should have him die by having Malcom McDowell guest star and he ends up getting shot in the back and falls over a bridge and ends up falling on top of a client he just got off even though he was guilty as sin. Hid final words to Denny "OF all the lawyers I have known. You were the most human." Then he crocks.

Funny..very funny. But if it were a TREK cross over I would have Nimoy guest as the lawyer who finally beats Denny, causing him Denny to collaspe and die..

His last words should be...

"Denny Crane" and then the final scene should be Alan sitting out on the balcony alone, drink in one hand and cigar in the other with an empty chair next to him with a drink and cigar next to it.

I say no. I don't get this obsession with killing off characters for the sake of it. Sure, it can serve a highly dramatic function on occasion - Teri Bauer in Season 1 of 24, Chris on the Sopranos, Spock in TWOK - but as often as not, it's shoehorned in and pointless (Trip in ENT, Data in ENT, virtually anyone who died in Season 5 of 24).

Hopefully, having had his most famous character killed off in an anticlimatic and unworthy fashion, Shatner will resist efforts to do so with his 2nd most famous.

The thing with Denny is though, that the alternative would be even more sad, and un-Denny-like - dying of Alzheimers, in some nursing home, and probably alone.
Killing Denny Crane wouldn't just be for the sake of it.

Alan Shore isn't even partner so no way he will take over anything.

He should die, but you should have two polls because I think he should die but I don't think he will die.

But why do we have to see it onscreen?

I'd rather the show just ended with our heroes supping brandy and smoking cigars on the balcony as usual. We know Denny's going to die eventually, just like any tv character (or real person!) will. Isn't it better just to have it in our imaginations?

In my opinion Teri Bauer was killed off cause she annoyed me to death all season long and I was rooting for her to die!! Too bad the daughter didn't die too!

First of all, Alan Shore can't 'take over' since he's not even a partner at all, let alone a senior enough partner to be up for managing partner.

However, I have no interest in seeing Denny Crane die.

I mean, why? For what purpose? The show is supposed to be a funny show. It addresses more serious current events in the courtroom scenes, it's true...but for the most part the personal stuff it geared toward the humorous end of things. And I'm simply not seeing how Denny dying is funny - not for the character, and not for Alan Shore, who is the guy's best friend.

I could only see the firm continuing if they brought back Edwin Poole from his "infirmity". Shirley herself (god bless the lovely lady for coming through a REAL stroke in the meantime) ain't enough to carry a law firm...but Poole, with his faculties at least SOMEWHAT intact could help if Denny had to go.

How would have preferred Kirk die? Would it be more heroic for him to yell, "Look at me, people! I'm dying for all of you! With my sacrifice, you shall live. And I expect you to tell your great grandchildren about the noble, heroic and selfless James T. Kirk who gave his life to save yours!"
