Defying Gravity: Discussion thread for the remaining episodes.

Why do I think Donner is not going to react well if he finds out about the truth of the baby thing?

One more episode. Ah, show, we hardly knew you.

Why do I think Donner is not going to react well if he finds out about the truth of the baby thing

Why the hell would you think he would react well?! "Oh, a miracle occurred and we could have had a baby? But you decide to not only tell me about it, but go behind my back and take a highly illegal drug that not only nearly killed you but aborted my child? Is that all? Pfft, let's go have some tea and scones."

Oh, I agree he shouldn't react well ... but I suspect his reaction as written will be more for the drama than the realism.

PS Zoe and Jen are both despicable characters. I know we're supposed to root for them, but I kind of hate them both for being selfish, dishonest, and shockingly immature. I think the writers were going for a "Meredith and Christina" vibe (since this show is supposed to be Grey's Anatomy in space), but they failed, and the two of them just ended up kind of creepy.

Gamma will be brought back to the ship and turn the rabbit into a space monster that will kill the entire crew.

Fantastic!

Episode Twelve....not too bad, I guess. I was hoping Zoe was going to say "Goddess on the Mountain Top, Burning Like a Silver Flame...."

So obviously there'll be no resolution in the last hour. How bad is it going to be, do you think?

people on this show.

Oh, and apparently Beta wants Zoe and Donner to beeeee togetherrrrrr. He could only pass the impossible (and obviously Beta-controlled) simulation when she was standing there? .
Just what the internet needs...'Shippers from space. ;)

In her defense, he did tell her he had a vasectomy, so what was she supposed to think about him after finding out she was pregnant? The vasectomy didn't work or that he was feeding her a line to score with her? :wtf: :alienblush:

Yeah, and did you catch that line in this past episode? Eve reverently says something like, "Zoe and Donner. It was always Zoe and Donner."

(You know, show writers, we can figure out that the alien artifacts have a plan for these two without you beating us over the head with it at every opportunity.)

Oh, and Ron Livingston I love, but I've started to notice he only has one facial expression.

He does, doesn't he. He looks like he's confused while also being slightly constipated at the same time. ;)

Right, and he could be making sweet love to you, or punching you in the face, or sitting on the toilet actually confused and constipated, and it would still be the exact same look.

I wonder how Zoe ends up back in the program and if it'll be addressed in the next episode? We know right now Poe is in the program and has taken over Zoe's apartment while she's getting a tat and taking the train out of dodge.

My guess? I think Beta has the Eagle flying above her apartment come crashing down through the skylight and then bites off Poe's leg. :techman:

Needs to be a rule for the "big concept" shows that might not make it: If you get cancelled before the big reveal, find an internet outlet of some sort and explain where the hell you were going with the storyline! Even if we resolve the venus part, there was so much more planned that we won't see (unless this somehow gets a 2nd season for syndication, regardless of being cancelled by the US and Canada)...

^Again, according to ABC, they haven't cancelled the show, just delayed broadcasting the rest of it until midseason.

All well and good, but if it had gotten even decent ratings, they'd have found a spot for it, or at least a plan to put it back on. Also been pulled off of one of the Canadian channels, hasn't it?

Not saying it's officially done, but if it tanked in two of its biggest markets, seems unlikely they'll make a 2nd season to try and sell to syndication again.

Then again, depending on price, could still be a decent 'summer show' attempt for the network.

it is on space in canada.

Another slow episode but love the reveal on venus and gets my imagination going and just thinking about space. Quite sad we stopped going to the moon.

^ We were told to stop exploring space by aliens who have superior weapons and technology.

But just recently the US attacked the moon. :p

Yeah, Jen had to grow a rabbit because the temptation for adultery was too much after just a couple weeks away from her husband.

You also can't forget Nadia who does her damnedest to be a one-woman wrecking crew for ship morale. And she's supposed to be the second in command.

At this point I'm not sure if the writers are just horrible at characterization or straight-up misogynists.

TVSquad just reported that the sets are being destroyed. In general I tend to find that the TVSquad bloggers are pretty clueless, and I wouldn't give any credit to the comment about the show being canceled, but if the sets are being destroyed that's not a good sign.

This is my shocked face. :borg: Really.

Next time, they need to hire better writers. The actors and visual effects were all great. The writing was the weak link.

Now I guess we'll never get to see the spawn of Zoe/Donner/Beta. Sigh.
