Definite New Series/Limited Series with Patrick Stewart Returning

Wouldn't mind seeing Picard and the TNG era as it approaches the turn of the 25th Century.

Don't even mind if Picard's outlook has changed a bit over time.

However... it seems like almost every show these days has to be dark, dystopian, gritty, and either R-rated or pushing that limit. This show does not need to be that- it's okay to let the hero be heroic and a good role model, instead of an angst-ridden Turd Ferguson. Make it a show that parents would be comfortable letting their kids watch. I just hope they don't sabotage the purpose in bringing back the character if all they plan to do is turn him into a bitter old fuck with 'disturbed morals' and an axe to grind. In a way that would be far worse than STD.

So the Borg are still a thing in 2399.

I don't see the Romulans on Beyer's map. Unless theyre supposed to be that small circle on the far right of the beta quadrant. It's not marked with an R though, while the Klingons are marked with a K.

It's begun!

I can't wait for this series. It's a dream come true and I'm very thankful to all involved in bringing it to me:bolian:

So, if Beyer is "Supreme Guardian of All Trek Canon", doesn't this mean Romulus should be destroyed?

Do you see it on the map? :p

The map is said to be immediately post-Voyager, so the Romulan Empire should be there. In fact, the little circle to the right of the dark vertical line (neutral zone?) is probably it.

Even if the map were current to the show, one would expect the Romulan Empire to still be there in some form, despite the destruction of a single planet.

I wouldn't exactly call that map finely-honed nor detailed. It is, however, recognizably of the TNG era and Prime Timeline and close enough.

I'm curious why anyone should give two rat turds in a rain barrel what Rick Berman thinks about any of this, irrespective of his favorable opinion of it or not.

They should bring Manny Coto back in to write for the new show so we can all watch his head explode.

Its amazing how many people don't know how much of an awful Human being Berman is.
I've explained it at least 15 times in the star trek shitposting group on facebook.

He did oversee the majority of Trek though.
He is Genes successor, like it or not.

If you're fine with thinking of a sexist homophobe thusly, sure. The kind who we wouldn't allow within 50k of a star trek production this decade.

I wouldn’t say I am fine with it. I’ve also only heard the rumours here and there. I also can’t travel back in time to about 1991 and somehow put someone else in the job. Whatever his proclivities off screen, the work on screen thankfully doesn’t entirely reflect those. *shrug*
It is difficult in Trek to separate the people from the work...Rodenberry is far from the kind of person I would consider ideal, especially in this era, but he also the guy who started it all. I can’t stand Braga, for similar reasons, and more so because his oddities did make it into the work, but I can’t write him out of Trek history either.

I'm not saying Berman was a great guy. I'm also not saying that he always made the best choices - some of his decisions (like to turn the music into aural wallpaper on TNG, and to totally avoid "gay stuff") were pretty bad. But he had a much lighter hand overall on Trek than Roddenberry during his era at the helm - particularly when it comes to the writer's room. Indeed, my general impression is that Berman actually protected Trek from heavy studio interference during his time at the helm, which resulted in the showrunners having a lot more freedom than they otherwise would have had.

Exactly. As much as I might find GR and his personal life choices questionable (at best), he also gave us this franchise, for good or for ill. Acceptance of what is des not mean approval. It just means it is.
