Defiance Season 2 Discussion

In some sort of Misery situation where you find him dehydrated in your back yard after an Aboriginal Bushwalk has gone HORRIBLY WRONG and you must nurse the prolific writer back to health while Greg writes quickly and on task if he wants to keep his ankles each in one piece?

How the hell big is the E-Rep?

Does it cover part of America, all of America, part of the world, or all of the world except Canada?

According to the true wiki, the E-Rep controls Columbia, a reorganized area comprising much of the mid-Atlantic/northeastern American seaboard and parts of eastern Canada, including the Maritime Provinces and the Quebec City-Windsor area. The remainder of North America seems to be in a ravaged state and there are several other independent locales like Defiance, so perhaps Winnipeg is in that category. The Votanis Collective controls most of Central and South America.

If you look up the Defiance wiki it is useless, actual facts we all know aren't on there much less game facts. There needs to be something filling in all this stuff.

I also am having a fantasy that Greg Cox is going to write Defiance novels.

I could live with that . . ..

Thank you Unicron.

If Stahma wants to regain control, she has to sleep with Rafe which will put an end to the friendship and shenanigans that Rafe and Datak are conniving... But if Rafe and Stahma have a baby, things are going to get "messy".

So what's the state of Europe, Asia, Australia? Is there any contact I wonder.

I think Stahma would like Datak back on side but as a man who needs her. Once Rafe and Datak are really in bed there will come a time when Rafe tells Datak, "the answer to [something] is your wife."

It's something that people keep hidden. He had to obtain the address from Amanda discreetly.

And if you're a high-ranking official of the Earth Republic, do you really want people to know that you get off on pretending to be a Votan? Not good for the image . . . and we know how much the E-Rep likes to present a positive image.

I just watched the episode last night. So what the hell was Christie doing at the club? Trying to cheat on Alak and hoping to hook up with another Castithan? Mercado certainly has a fetish for dressing up.

That was the first time they ever showed a Gulanee. They're very powerful energy-based beings; they could have easily decimated the humans during the Pale Wars.

She wanted to be accepted by a Castithan who was nice to her while she herself was being a perfect Castithan who wasn't a complete shit like all her family.

She wanted to be better than them while being them.

It is entirely possible that this had noting to do about about penetration.

Besides, taking either of their pants off and revealing their pinkskin ruins the satisfying illusion of inhumanity for both of them.

OH and here's what I don't get about the Golani or whatever.. if they are pure energy why did this one have breasts?

And yes I know "she" had breasts to look cool in the video game but I am wondering what the in-universe explanation is.

So we go from a dude who watches Amanda with a spy cam in her bedroom and was apparently obsessed with her ex, to a dude who likes to dress up as Castithans. Are any of the higher-ups in the E-Rep normal?

I don't see anything wrong with dressing up as a Castithan. It's mostly harmless and is apparently just how the guy likes to relax. A far cry from a voyeur watching people sleep with a hidden camera.

Although, I'm sure in the weeks to come as we get to know Mr. Mercado he'll begin doing his share of moustache twirling and cliché villainy. Just give him time.
I don't really see anything wrong with him dressing up as a Castithan , but the show was definitely treating it as aberrant behavior.

Which wiki did you use? I've come across two different ones while looking stuff up. One is really good and informative and one is shit. I'm thinking you must have stumbled across the shit one.
I was going to post a link to the good one, but my bookmark isn't wanting to work.

Really, you don't think it would sink his career if Earth Rep found out he liked to pretend he was an alien adversary?

Earth Republic doesn't mean that only humans get the vote.

(It's a democracy?)

You'd think a Human that drunk the Voltan coolaide would get the Voltan vote.

What's the ratio between human's and Voltans?

Breeding rates?

How long until one of the Voltan species alone outnumbers the humans by themselves?

I dunno which wiki, I've looked at a few and it's kind of annoying to look up a character and there's less info there than you had in season 1. So if anyone has the hot fandom place for Defiance other than this thread, post links.

What are the numbers now?

I'm assuming humans still are the majority, greater than all the Voltan races put together?

Oh yeah, there definitely seems to be a social stigma attached to it, to the point that I suspect he'd probably get in more trouble with E-Rep were this fetish exposed than Pottinger would were his Amanda-cam discovered.

How illegal is adrino?

Harvested from people would be horribly illegal, especially if there are farms were hobos are milked to death.

But how do the law givers tell the difference between natural adrino and the artificial substitute?

Pottinger playing with that market should have been enough to put him in a cell... If Amanda wasn't in the box beside Niles.

Exactly. It's all about politics and image. The E-Rep seems be very human-centric and opposed to The Votan Collective. Which makes this kind of role-playing more than just a harmless kink.

Suppose, at the height of the Cold War, it came out that Ronald Reagan like to dress up as a Soviet general and pretend to be a godless Russkie for kicks. I don't think that would have gone over too well with his supporters . . ..

That was all kinds of goodness. I like how stylized a lot of scenes have become, Rafe and Datak to the extremer right of the screen, against the horizon, carrying the body.

This scene..

Many good things.

The whole ending sequence which made me believe in the alien skin club and the allure of it. Christie's naivete concerning Dierdre. Alak's awful adolescent-ness. The bond between Stahma and Datak running strong beneath their separation. Really don't know where a lot of this is going, but I suspect Casti cosplayer will die soon and that will bring Potty back.
