About all of the characters have big changes from last season. Not a bad thing at all, but if you missed many episodes you'd hardly recognize these characters.

Sometimes real life is like that, though. I can think of many times in my life where there were some pretty drastic changes over the course of a year, enough that someone who hadn't seen me during that year would think I was a completely different person. Hell, I can think of some pretty serious changes that have gone down since this time last year.

So we go from a dude who watches Amanda with a spy cam in her bedroom and was apparently obsessed with her ex, to a dude who likes to dress up as Castithans. Are any of the higher-ups in the E-Rep normal?

I don't see anything wrong with dressing up as a Castithan. It's mostly harmless and is apparently just how the guy likes to relax. A far cry from a voyeur watching people sleep with a hidden camera.

Although, I'm sure in the weeks to come as we get to know Mr. Mercado he'll begin doing his share of moustache twirling and cliché villainy. Just give him time.

Why do I think that Biomen can be built without junk?

Forklifts do not need sexual organs.

However I can see a completely different class of Biomen built mostly for sex.

There are probably several classes, built specifically to achieve designed tasks and ends... But can they be smarter?

We don't know enough about them. He was obviously scared. He has attachments. Yet he's seen as not a person, based on more than intelligence. Something else makes him not-a-person in people's eyes.

I also thought that zinc cream they were wiping on their skin must have a drug in it. Maybe it does? As well as being cosplay cream.

I can see why people want to hang out in the stylized, deliberately fabulous Casti life for a bit, as an escape.

Once upon a time this man was Richard Peck in Ghostbusters and then Richard Thronberg in Die Hard, until finally last week he was the Viceroy Berto Mercado in Defiance, where he sent Pottinger to assend of no where, and became interim mayor of Defiance.

Okay what the fuck is this?

Is James "Pottinger" Murray not coming back?

Did something screwy happen behind the scenes?

Or was Jim just holding space while Bill was sorting some other stuff out?

Weird.

(I think I just proved that there is no heaven. Y'know if all language (because the earth is a super computer called Deep Thought.) is a collection of cryptic clues constructed by our bastard subconsciousnesses... Assend. As in the ass-end of no where, is almost nearly a homonym of ascend, which is a word that some times means bodily rise to heaven. Which seems to indicate that higher conciousness equals meaningless.)

I'm going to rewatch the ep as I missed the Canadian thing. I ended up watching it in three parts which sucked.

I've been looking up pics of Tony Curran un-Datak'd, he is very quirky and handsome and hot.

They talk about "the front", and the war with "Winnipeg", and just "in the North".

Winnipeg is only a city, not a province, but it's possible that the Canadian provinces fell apart just like the American states.

Of course the forces of Winnipeg could have marched forth and taken over most of what were the northern territories and then set their eyes on parts of America?

Tony played a knight in Primeval, and Pottinger was almost the series lead in season one of Primeval. I don't think that they were on the show at the same time.

Who were they fighting? Aliens or humans?

I assumed Winnipeg like Defiance and the rest of North America that we have been made aware of, had accepted and naturalized their former invaders.

So unless Canada had fallen completely to the Voltans, after the complete extermination of all humans up there, or vice versus it's still a northern landmass known as Winnipeg being difficult.

Meanwhile Winnipeg could just be one front in the larger war the E-Rep is fighting against Manitoba or all Canada.

How the hell big is the E-Rep?

Does it cover part of America, all of America, part of the world, or all of the world except Canada?

They should just give them Canada, "them" being anyone who wants it. Way too cold.

In the minisodes there is a badlands up north, seemingly getting worse and worse the further north you get. Or maybe I imagined the last part. Still maybe Winnipeg and a bunch of the rest of Canada is a hellhole with only ice hellbugs and hardy Voltans.

A front would indicate a line where two armies are pushing against each other.

Whatever is behind them is theirs, and whatever is in front of them is killable.

However fighting in a city is different.

There's a third faction involved that actually lives there, shooting at both sides because: fuck'em.

If you look up the Defiance wiki it is useless, actual facts we all know aren't on there much less game facts. There needs to be something filling in all this stuff.

I also am having a fantasy that Greg Cox is going to write Defiance novels.
