Decanonization Time!

The only reason to reimagine it would've been because they didn't believe the designs would be acceptable to modern audiences.
The fact that they believed it doesn't mean it was true. Hollywood often believes lots of things about audiences that are not true. I think the classic design could have worked just fine and audiences would have accepted it. I could be wrong, of course.

I think the original designs with active overhead monitors would've been great.

Because it's easier to believe that this....

Very few people ended up watching this, so I'm not thinking it is a good reason. Especially considering the very same show had the above leading to the TOS look.

For a two episode nostalgia fest designed solely to tickle the memberberries. I adore The Original Series, but it's production design would stick out like a sore thumb on modern television for anything other than an aforementioned "special episode."

I honestly don't think so. I think with modern technology and materials, it would've held up very well.

Isn't that basically the SNW Bridge? Sure, it's a little bigger, and it has a door to a ready room and some more lights. Other than that, the layout is the same.

I am of the opinion that they could have made a passable update to the TOS sets and ship design without making things as different as they did.
could have re-added the clear dome ceiling from The Cage and used that as an alternate view screen at times, reclining back in the chairs to look out at it. its a space ship, act like it.

They ended up making it a lot bigger, and the lighting is awful. It simply doesn't engender the same feelings in me that the original did. The SNW set "feels" a ton more like a TV filming set than the original. Almost like a funhouse mirror version of the TOS set.

So will the SNW set in ten years' time.
Nah. The NX-01 Bridge still holds up after 25 years, SNW will be fine. Like someone said upthread, production standards greatly increased in the 70s. It's why Star Wars can still make shit look like 1977 and not be accused of looking dated. Same for the Alien franchise.

I don't understand how one is believable but the other is not. Then I've worked with machines that had control panels like the TOS bridge. Where you had to read the lights to know what was going on with the machine.
Yeah, I don't have that. The buttons "just work" which was something I found minorly annoying in Star Trek and TNG.

The closest I get to reading lights is my car's dash 😆

Basically the same thing, just on a bigger scale. I think that is what makes the TOS bridge set feel more futuristic than other Trek sets. It feels like something, especially now, that was made by a completely different society than the one we currently inhabit.
