Spoilers DC's Legends of Tomorrow - Season 2

If Nate is Vixen's grandfather, why would you assume that he and Amaya will leave the show this year, just as the two Hawks did last year?

I was chiming in to the conversation on who might leave the show this season. I should've put it in a separate paragraph.

Why expect anyone to leave the show? Just because it happened in the first season, that doesn't mean it's going to recur. The consensus of reviewers, with which the producers seemed to agree, was that the first season was hampered by its dependence on the Vandal Savage/Hawkman/Hawkgirl arc, and the actors in those roles were considered somewhat disappointing as well. So the producers dropped them and adopted a new format that was more about stopping time aberrations than having a single overriding mission, and it's been working well. And the actors playing Nate and Amaya seem to be working out better too. So I doubt the producers would be inclined to get rid of them.

Because he had months' worth of survival skills in that environment that he developed without the suit, so he figured the suit would just get in the way. There is a certain logic to it.

Um, no, there isn't. Hell, he should have just flown to the spot (since they had a detection device); picked up the device (maybe with his actually using the suit's powers to drive off the T-Rex - as this IS billed as a DC superhero show); and flown back. the fact these writers routinely have the powered heros in situations where they don't/aren't able to use their powers (like the Professor and Jax almost ALWAYS being split up, etc.) is getting ridiculous (IMO).

WHy expect anyone to leave the show? Becuase this show doesn't have a title character it is dependent on. So, in theory, anyone can go. Captain Cold is gone too, and he was fairly popular (as opposed to Vandal/the Hawks). And it would make sense, as this is a vehicle to develop 2nd & 3rd tier DC heroes... great place to test them out for future productions.

Personally, i 'd liek it if they rotated "genres" of heroes... such as next year being focused on magically heroes.

or also an anthology (or varied lengths) would be great too.

I said there was "a certain logic to it." Logic is not a guarantee of correctness; it is merely a method for reasoning from a premise to a conclusion. Two people pursuing equally logical processes using different premises can arrive at different conclusions. So I'm not saying I agree with Ray or that he was unambiguously right; I am only saying that I understand the reasoning process that could have led him to that choice. He didn't know how to be The Atom in the Cretaceous, because he'd never been there with the suit before. But he had six months of experience being Ray Palmer in the Cretaceous -- which is nearly half as much time as he's spent aboard the Waverider (which would be 14 months, given that the producers tend to go with the conceit that they're advancing in real time -- and that's not counting the 2 years he and Kendra spent stranded in 1958-60.) So that's a significant part of his recent life experience. From a perspective of character logic, I can understand why his reflex as a human being would've been to fall back on what he was used to when faced with that environment. It's in character for Ray to do that, regardless of whether it's objectively the best option.

(maybe with his actually using the suit's powers to drive off the T-Rex - as this IS billed as a DC superhero show)

But then we would've missed Amaya channeling a T. rex.

Producers spoke about rotating the cast each season, granted that was before Season 1 premiered so some things may have changed. There's 8 of them already, if they just add some more things might be a bit overcrowded, so someone is likely to leave before that happens, and there's no shortage of spare heroes from other shows to feed into Legends, plus any new ones they may come up with...

I would have no problem if they write out Rip after this season. It's going to be strange if they go back to old first season status quo after all this. He was never a likable character. I was hoping with his memory loss they would give him a whole knew personally whenever he is brought back fully into the team.

You mean something like.... regenerating him with a new personality? ;)

If anyone leaves, I'd expect it to be Rip. He was part of the Vandal Savage arc, so arguably he doesn't serve much purpose anymore.

And even if they do stick with the idea of a rotating cast, that doesn't mean that the people to leave this season have to be the replacements for the people who left before. Keep in mind what Rory said this week about Stein not being around forever -- they may be setting up his departure. He might decide to go back to Central City to be with his daughter. Or maybe Ray will go, given that they seem to be having trouble finding a role for him.

Yeah, the Stein thing definitely stood out. I'm kind of wondering if Rory might be the new half of Firestorm?

They have to do better by Ray. He's my favorite. Ok, Mick is my favorite, but Ray is also my favorite.

They have x numbers of dollars for special effects.

This week's allotment was spent mostly on Gerty.

^ And the Waverider crash.

Now the big question is, who's gonna be the captain from now on. My vote is for Sara. ;)

It's Rips' ship. There's no choice to be made (unless Rip acquiesces)

Well, technically it isn't Rip's ship, because he stole it. I'd say if the Waverider ultimately belongs to anyone, it's Gideon. It is her body, after all.

Besides, I think Sara's been a better leader than Rip ever was. He was basically just using and manipulating the team to serve his own agenda, and he didn't hesitate to lie to them or trick them when it suited him. If it came down to a vote, I think they'd pick Sara.

Well, Rip is still the best skipper for the Wave Rider they have.
But Sara is the best team leader.
I could see a dual leadership there.

If you mean that Rip is better-qualified to understand the ship itself, I'd say that makes him a better choice for first officer than "skipper." The captain is the leader and decision-maker; the first officer is the one in charge of the nuts and bolts of how the captain's orders are carried out.
