Spoilers DC's Legends of Tomorrow - Season 2

Kind of the whole point of this show is that the "Legends" are not seasoned temporal operatives, they're misfits and screwups who barely know what they're doing. So, no, Sara telling Darhk he would fail may not have been the best move strategy-wise. But this is fiction, and fiction is about character. So Sara finding a smarter, more cutting way to get "revenge" on Darhk than just killing him, one that's fitting for a captain instead of an assassin, is a nice bit of character growth. That's why we like it -- because we watch for the characters, not for the cold mechanics of strategy.

They made a big point about how being a captain and a legend means protecting the timeline rather than giving in to personal vendettas. Sara then proceeded to put her personal vendetta ahead of the timeline. I'd say that goes to a flaw in her character just as much as it does her strategic sensibility.

I've deleted the offending post. You know what "FTFY" stands for, right?

@Christopher is probably concerned because he a) is very open about who he is in real life and b) works in the same industry as those writers. In fact, it's entirely possible that he could be considered to write tie-in fiction for this project or another of the projects eventually connected to those writers. He may be being overly cautious, but I can't blame a guy who is just looking out for his professional reputation.

I removed your name from the quote. You know what "FTFY" stands for, right?

Yes, and I am one of many people who consider it an extremely obnoxious, mean-spirited, condescending, and unfunny thing to do to another person's words. There are established standards for quotation and attribution. Altering another person's words and presenting them as a direct quote is unethical, and even when it's clearly presented as a joke, it's still invasive and rude in the extreme. You don't have the right to repaint my car without permission. You don't have the right to give me a haircut without permission. And you don't have the right to tamper with my words without permission. The only way you would ever have that right is if you were my editor and were paying me for my work.

I must say this season is getting less stupid. I would not say "better", since it's still a terrible show but the new episode (no 5) made me laugh at one point ("I just died in your arms tonight") and it was more interesting than any episode before.

Still a long way to go for that show though...

The "FTFY" is a pretty common and legitimate way to comment on a post in forum. Get used to it.

Common? Yes. Legitimate? Only because being an asshole isn't illegal. And neither is calling out an asshole. Get used to it, if you aren't already intimately familiar with the concept.

Dare I admit that it took me several minutes to figure out what "FTFY" must stand for? Not everybody is fluent in text-speak . . ..

I really enjoyed this episode. I keep coming late to the party here so I don't really have anything to add. Except that I am hoping that Ray will use the dwarf star material to become something similar to the Atom we all know and love. It would be nice to see him with his more traditional power set.

Hey, I just pointed out that it's a not uncommon occurrence. I rarely have ever used it myself and usually only in a humorous context. You may not have seen the original "FTFY" post that set Christopher off, but it was from a mod, not me.

Warning for flaming. Comments to PM

Apparently it's a common thing on Reddit. I sometimes peruse Reddit, but I can't recall seeing "FTFY" before today.

Honestly, I barely know what "Reddit' is. I've heard the term and I gather it's some sort of computer message board thingie, and I think it's been explained to me before, but it's not really on my radar at all.

Then again I still use land lines and have never owned a smartphone .. .. :)
