Spoilers DC TV Arrow/Flash Universe Crossover Discussion

I know there are no Earth-38 equivalents of Barry Allen et-al but I have an idea in my head for a 'Prisoner of Zenda' type story in which there is an Oliver Queen and on that Earth he never spent five years on the island and returned to become Green Arrow and is in essence still a playboy jerk. Something happens to him and the Oliver Queen of Earth-1 is recruited by Kara to take his place for some reason until the Earth -38 OQ is found and recovered. Also while he's on Earth-38 he could give Jimmy advice on being a vigilante.

We don't know that Barry Allen and Co. don't exist on Earth-38 FOR SURE, only that E1 Barry couldn't find his friends in CENTRAL CITY when he looked for them.

Not sure if this is the right thread for it, but it's just been confirmed that the villain in the upcoming Supergirl/Flash musical crossover will be just who we hoped: The Music Meister! No word yet on whether Neil Patrick Harris will reprise the role he originated for Batman: The Brave and the Bold, since the casting isn't far enough along yet -- but he seems to be open to it, so I'm hoping.

This also presumably means that the upcoming Mr. Mxyzptlk 2-parter is not the musical, as some had suspected.

Sounds great.
If Neil actually plays the villain there is a slight chance I might end up rooting for him s bit.
How can one not!

My ideal wish list would be that, A, they cast NPH, and B, they license the Music Meister's theme song from the B&tB episode. Although of the two, I'd expect A to be more of a realistic possibility.

More news on the musical crossover from EW:

The vast majority of the action will take place during The Flash‘s March 21 episode, with the musical kicking off at the end of Supergirl‘s March 20 hour, similar to the Invasion crossover.

Oh, that's too bad. I was expecting a full 2-part crossover.

The Flash hour of the crossover, titled “Duet,” will be directed by Dermott Downs, and will feature musical performances from Grant Gustin, Melissa Benoist, Jesse L. Martin, Victor Garber (who currently stars on Legends of Tomorrow), Carlos Valdes, Jeremy Jordan, and John Barrowman (the Arrow alum also stars on Legends). Supergirl‘s David Harewood and Chris Wood will also have non-singing guest star appearances.

It's not that hard to get Martin Stein to drop by Central City, especially now that he has a daughter there, but I wonder how they're going to work Malcolm Merlyn into the episode.

I'm a little dissapointed to hear we won't be getting two full musical episodes.
Finished Season 2 of Arrow Tonight.

I have to say I really liked Season 2, and Slade was such a scary and insane villain. I really liked how the Island storyline really helped move the present storyline forward, unlike Season 1 where I felt it was merely a diversion and sometimes got in the way. Once we got to the end of the season, the intercutting they were doing between Island and present was incredible, and that final sequence between Oliver and Slade in both time periods was put together really well. I also really liked Blake Neely's music and was wondering if there is a soundtrack out there. The music during the final two episodes (Really the whole season) was incredible. I remember when people were wishing we got the Superman theme back at the beginning of Supergirl's new season, but what Blake Neely is doing is really cool and I gained a lot more respect for him as a composer watching Arrow Season 2.

I love the tertiary characters and seeing them all grow and change over the years. I wasn't keen on Laurel's story at the beginning, but she really came through at the end. I also liked seeing Sara, and I started watching this show because of the Invasion cliffhanger, and seeing Sara is really putting things together in this DC TV Universe that Berlanti and Co are creating through these shows.

There were a few things that did irk me though about this season. Some of the coincidences felt off, like the flashbacks to Oliver getting a girl pregnant, and Thea kinda became annoying at the end. I'm interested to see where she goes in Season 3, but there were times when her pouting was too much. Other than that, loved Season 2. I've had many people tell me stuff about Olicity and how that became too much, but we'll see what happens. Two seasons of Arrow, and various appearances on The Flash, I still like Felicity a lot.
If you're open to tie-in novels, the first Arrow novel, Vengeance, expands on the backstories of all three Season 2 villains. I haven't read it yet myself, but it seems to have gotten a good reaction on Amazon and Goodreads.

It might be interesting for the Isabelle/Slade connection. If I decide to read the novels, I'll look this one up.

I think what disappoints me is that, if it's limited to a Flash episode, then it probably has Supergirl and her friends coming to Central City again, instead of the Flash and friends making a reciprocal visit to National City, which seemed like the appropriate next step after "Invasion!"

On the other hand, I guess the Music Meister makes more sense as a metahuman than an alien. I wonder what backstory/motivation they'll offer for him. The original Brave and the Bold character explained his motives thusly:
The bullies used to pick on me because I sang in choir,
But something very strange occurred when I kept singing higher!
The ruffians around me quickly fell into a trance,
And it was then with wicked glee I made those puppets dance!
Basically your standard outcast seeking power as revenge for his mistreatment, the victim of bullying turning the tables to become the bully.

Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Some times he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy, the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. At the age of 12 I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it.

.

Actually I think they do have metahumans in Supergirl such as Live Wire & Silver Banshee, so he could be an Earth-38 meta.

Yeah, it's just that on E1 the term Meta is almost exclusively used for dark matter explosion victims, except that one guy on Arrow Have they ever explained where he got his powers from?

No, but I don't think they ever meant to establish where he got his powers, just that people with powers existed before. So that when they introduced the Hawks, Vandal Savage, and the whole JSA people wouldn't complain about canon violations ;)

I'm not saying it's impossible to have a meta on Supergirl, just that it's a better thematic fit to The Flash so that's probably why they put it there.

That, and they can work in more Earth-1 characters that way. Easier to explain Supergirl going there than having a slew of Earth-1 characters travel to Earth-38.

We know that Batman exists in Earth-38, but I wonder if they have a Central or Star City and what happens there. Do they have aliens living on Earth like National city has? They don't have Queen Consolidated but is there an Oliver Queen who lives in Earth 38. So many possibilities.
