Spoilers DC TV Arrow/Flash Universe Crossover Discussion

That, and they can work in more Earth-1 characters that way. Easier to explain Supergirl going there than having a slew of Earth-1 characters travel to Earth-38.

Back when I thought it was a full 2-parter, I assumed there would be things happening on both Earths. Although I guess I hadn't thought through how one villain could achieve that. (Although before the Music Meister was confirmed, it was rumored that Mr. Mxyzptlk might be behind it.)

We know that Batman exists in Earth-38, but I wonder if they have a Central or Star City and what happens there.

We know from "Worlds Finest" that Earth-38 has a Central City, but no STAR Labs, Cisco, Caitlin, etc.

But we might soon have a DEO on E1.
Supergirl and J'onn could even go there because of an official invitation of the new president to oversee the start of the new department.

Who knows?
Maybe we'll get an official exchange program even?
Alien immigration protocals for metahuman expertise?

Sad news -- The Music Meister has been cast, and it won't be Neil Patrick Harris. Instead, it's some Glee cast member named Darren Criss, whom I've never heard of.

I guess it makes sense to go for someone from Glee, given that Benoist and Gustin are both veterans of that show and that was part of the inspiration for doing this. But he's an unknown quantity to me, and I would've loved to see and hear NPH reprise the role in live action. I guess his schedule on A Series of Unfortunate Events didn't allow it.

I only watched Glee for a season or two, so I don't think I've seen Criss.
Definitely disappointed it won't be NPH, but I can see where their thinking came from.

When I heard it was Darren Criss, I realised just what an obvious choice he was. Especially since Grant Gustin said he wanted him on the show shortly after The Flash started. I am happy with this casting.

Since I've never seen Criss or the Music Meister I looked up clips of both on Youtube, and it looks like it'll be a good fit.

In the original story Crisis on Earth-One, The Fiddler accidentally found a vibrational frequency that allowed him to cross over from Earth-Two to Earth-One. So there is a precident for a musical or sound based villain to move between worlds.

That would be a good reason for Kara to travel to Earth-1, if she was pursuing the villain.

Honestly, without NPH I don't know why they're even using the Music Meister. If they had used him, I'd probably be excited. As it is, I doubt I'll watch the musical crossover. I don't like musicals in non-cartoons anyway, and it just being a Glee reunion more then an actual DCTV crossover just makes it more unappealing.

I think Darren Criss will do just fine in the role. He's getting to be kind of NPH "lite", as he took over for him as the lead in Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway some time ago.

In the season 1 Supergirl thread I mentioned the possibility of a Supergirl musical because of Benoist an Jeremy Jordan, but that was before I knew that Grant Gustin was in the Flash. This shaping up as something really special. I just hope the songs and the story are a match for the great voices. And as for it being a "Glee reunion", that suits me just fine.

I know this was addressed but I can't remember, will they be using original songs, or pop songs?

I think they said it would be largely or mostly licensed songs, with maybe some original. Not sure if they'll be "pop" songs or songs from musicals.

That's Really Super, Supergirl-XTC
Flash-Queen (yeah, I know, wrong flash)
Good Vibrations- Beach Boys
Life on Mars- David Bowie
Fire-Jimi Hendrix
Cold As Ice- Foreigner

The funny this is, the Queen Flash Gordon theme, could actually almost work for The Flash too.

If you take out the bits of movie dialogue, I don't think there's anything in it that couldn't apply to The Flash. There was one bit I couldn't make out, but it didn't seem to be anything specific to Flash Gordon.
