DC Teases Flashpoint

Are we certain? Because based on the cover Admiral Young linked to, I'd say Superman was the one being experimented on (look at the big door in the top panel).

Those guards are indeed guarding something to do with Superman. I wonder if that might have to do with Supergirl? Remember the House of El shield is her symbol as well. I guess we'll find out.

I love Geoff Johns but this doesn't sound terribly interesting. It's hard to care about alternate what-if stories since they're not "our" characters. And fifteen tie-ins?! Are they beating Blackest Night for biggest cash-in?!

These are supposed to be our characters though. Something has happened that has drastically altered "Our" timeline. Just like AOA when Legion went back into time and killed his father. What that event is with Flashpoint we obviously don't know yet.

The wikipedia article seems to suggest like with most crossover events from DC lately this will be used to "correct continuity errors" what those relate to remains to be seen.

^ Not yet although the Road to Flashpoint epilogue starts soon and runs until April so I think it's pretty safe to assume that Flashpoint will begin in May.

How does DC keep on coming up with enough continuity errors to justify a 15-miniseries event every two years to correct them?

Whatever is in the store is largely irrelevant, the superhero crowd have been trained to look for "important" stories, so since Marvel has an "important" story coming out, DC needs to have one.

Of course except in "Flashpoint's" case...DC has been planning it for some time and has hinted about it over the last year or two. Marvel's "Fear It's Self" kind of came out of no where just in the last month or so.

Because every time they "correct" a continuity error they cause 3 different errors.

If these 15 minis are replacing the ongoings then I'm in for at least the ones that correspond to titles I already buy. If they're in addition to all the regular ongoings...I'll be much more picky.

Not buying any of the Marvel crossover.

DC history is retconned every other issue or so. Geoff Johns in particular is notorious for constantly retconning, even his own work. It's given rise to the term "geoffcon."

Yeah I think everyone here understands what the formulas been Joe...if you've been reading comics in the past ten years it's been exactly that. I was never disputing that.
