DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

 No Way Home is easily the best Spider-Man film since Spider-Man 2, its far from "gutless fanservice". I'm tired about people that whine about fanservice, fanservice is great, it should be readily embraced literally whenever possible. The fact that No Way Home uses it basically perfectly, while also being the only good MCU Spider-Man film is just even more impressive.

As for The Flash, its a very low bar to be one of the few good DCEU related films, but a tolerable story can easily be made a classic with stuff like Keaton's Batman.

It was gutless fanservice, and Spider-Man 2 has tons of flaws that the fans ignore time and time again because of the nostalgia factor like Otto's entire character being nonsensical and the "Peter loses his power" subplot.

Take out Andrew and Tobey, the whole movie would be seen as the nonsense it is.

Fanservice is--at its heart does not serve or move a plot forward. Rarely is it anything other than fan-stroking BS that is out of place because its intended to call attention to itself in a breaking-the-fourth-wall manner.

Still waiting for a good MCU Spider-Man movie.

It was up there with Wonder Woman and Birds of Prey for me.

Birds of Prey? To each his own.

Birds of Prey is one of the best DCEU movies. Also, Spider-man Homecoming is the best live action SM movie in existence, and all of the MCU SM movies are miles better than that cheesy, repetitive crap Sony was putting out for over ten years straight.

I've always liked "Birds of Prey". I just never understood why the movie had failed to mention the reason behind the Joker's disappearance and why Black Mask thought he finally had a shot of ruling Gotham's criminal organization.

It could just be that after all the disappointment that DC's given people, even mediocrity will look like gold.

All the disappointment? If you're referring to the last four years of the DCEU (except for "Birds of Prey" and "Justice League" - Snyder Cut), I could agree with this assessment.

MCU Spider-Man simply did away with a lot of the outdated stuff that the comics themselves should have done away with a long time ago. Every time the writers tried, some hack always undid those welcome developments to devolve things.

Fanservice is a lot of fun when done right, and No Way Home was the perfect example of doing it right.

You must not have watched Homecoming, Far From Home, or No Way Home then, they were great.

Birds of Prey? That’s just crazy talk. :)
Birds of Prey is one of my all time favorite movies. Definitely the best things DC has done, and it cemented Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn as one of my favorite comic book movie character/actor combinations. She is absolute perfection in the role.

Not really.

No, they were not. Spidey-Lad lacked the sense of purpose (among other traits from the classic era of the comics) of the Raimi Spider-Man

I have to agree. Well told story, emotionally impacted, and beautiful. The fan service felt appropriate and it had an amazing follow up to one of the more heart wrenching scenes in Amazing Spider-Man 2.

I wouldn't say it's "Well told", the whole story came down to MCU Peter and Dr Strange both being short-sighted morons.

And you're demonstrating how the movie was less about Tom and more about wrapping up lingering threads from Tobey and Andrews' stories. Gutless.

I stand by what I wrote.

This is more or less how I feel about the movie after rewatching it and getting over the "fanboy" fun. Also, it puts a limitation on Strange's magic that feels created just to make the plot work -- making the ending feel more contrived than a natural resolution to the story.

So this is potentially massive news which I am super pumped for.

Kevin Smith just casually mentioned on his most recent edition of Fatman Beyond that he has seen the Schumacher Cut of Batman Forever, has a copy of the cut given to him by WB, and is going to (maybe wink wink) show it to an audience at his cinema.

What?!! Is this actually happening? Are they going to release the Schumacher Cut??!

I’ve never even heard of that.
DC sure loves their different cuts. First with Superman II and now this

Don't forget the Ayer Cut which James Gunn said will one day get released. Oh, and that extended cut of Superman IV too! Hope they both get released one day.

I wouldn't watch most Returns, Forever, or & Robin again, director's cut or not. That's a strange want, never knew anyone felt so highly about Forever.
Well the point is that this is a different cut. It's a darker take compared to what we got and might be more interesting.
