DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

She was the daughter of the Earth-2 version. Not sure if Movie Bruce is old enough to have a daughter in her early 30's (Winestead is 33). Though of course she could be playing younger.

I doubt they'd have the guts to go down that path anyways, although it would make for an interesting dynamic.

Birds of Prey casting news: Jurnee Smollett-Bell cast as Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress.

Had to look up Jurnee.
This casting is a big... meh. For both of them.
One internet personality was really pushing Janelle Monae for Black Canary... if that had happened, I would've been: Yes, please, where do I buy tickets?

This... seems... incredibly... TV casting.

BUT, maybe i'll be surprised. Not that I've been chomping at the bit for a Birds of Prey movie...

Really? Wishful thinking on your part?

NOW . . . people are deciding that Superman shouldn't be portrayed by a white actor? Now? This strikes me as nothing more than another idea or opinion that has suddenly become the in-thing. It seems to me that deep down, a lot of people are incapable of forming, let alone maintaining their own ideas. They just go with the most popular opinion at the moment.

I don't care whether a white actor, a black actor, or any actor of color portrays Superman, as long as he does a good job. I'm more than satisfied with Henry Cavill in the role right now, just as I was more than satisfied with Dean Cain back in the 1990s, who is Eurasian by the way. Hell, unlike many others, I rather enjoyed Michael B. Jordan's portrayal of Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch. I don't care. Nor do I see any genuine justification that it "makes sense" for Superman to be portrayed only by a non-white actor.

I agree with Jonesy this time!

I've been a fan of Mary Elizabeth Winstead since I saw her play Bruce Willis' daughter in "Live Free and Die Hard". As for Jurnee Smollett-Bell, I thought she was sensational in "Underground". So . . . excited!

Affleck completes his 30 day rehab treatment and was spotted heading into a meeting with WB

Could be a meeting to determine the future of his or Matt Reeves Batman

I hope he puts his sobriety ahead of the cowl.
I'm sure that's important to him.
Personally, I hope he moves on. He's a more interesting writer/director/producer than being Batman will allow him to be. I would rather see another The Town than another go as Batman.

Margot Robbie was no more Harley Quinn then Will Smith was. She just has a decently sized name, and a marketable (because its so generic) look. Even in that movie she's still the second worst adapted character after Jared Leto playing...whatever the hell he was playing (he certainly wasn't the Joker). Cut out Leto's role in the movie and change her character name name and no one would have guessed she was even playing Harley Quinn.
You must have a very different idea of Harley Quinn then, because I LOVE Harley, she's pretty much in my top 10 comic book characters, and I LOVED Margot Robbie's take on her. She's one of the main reasons I like the movie as much as I do. Obviously she wasn't the exact character in the comics, but she was still fucking great, and definitely 100% Harley.

I don't remember enough of Underground to know what to make of Jurnee Smollett-Bell's casting, but I watched 10 Cloverfield Lane a few months ago, and MEW was really good in that, so I'm pretty happy with her casting.

She had literally nothing in common with Harley except a name and a bit of stolen backstory. I guess she vaguely looked like the New 52 Harley, but that isn't the real Harley Quinn, either. In Suicide Squad, she's the stripper girlfriend of a shitty gangster who shares his skin condition and who was also supposedly a psychologist at one point. At most, I'll agree that she isn't as fucking terrible as Leto's shitty Gangster character (who I won't call the Joker, even if he's no longer the worst live action Joker he still doesn't resemble the character), because at least Robbie isn't a psychopath like Leto and is a competent actor.

I actually like the Suicide Squad movie as a mindless action flick, and Robbie's character isn't bad in it, but I watch it knowing its shit as a comic adaptation and so I don't think about it as one. Its one of the worst comic book adaptations objectively (easily the worst DCEU movie adaptation wise), but forgetting the stolen names from comic characters and its entertaining as a popcorn flick.

Agreed on pretty much everything you wrote except this. Personally, I have never been able to work up even a scintilla of interest in comics Harley (then again, virtually all things Bat render me comatose except for Batgirl). But I thought Robbie's version was great. If, as kirk55555 insists, she's not "really" Harley, I'd say that might be true -- she's much better.

Killing Batman so soon after killing Superman would have been a big mistake, especially since he wouldn't have even gotten a single solo movie.

I didn't realize Snyder had a 5 movie story planned out.
