DC - Convergence Spring Event

I can see maybe two years before the next event. They just drive to much cash into the coffers to not have them. On the other hand I look forward to the diversity following the event. I wont know what I am sticking with until all the new titles hit but I figure my usual 2/3rds of what they put out.

With all these massive Crises that DC loves to have every few years - this one apparently being the latest iteration - I confess I'm finding a hard time believing that DC is interested in closure...

I just want to know if there's supposed to be anything "more" final about this one than any other Crisis DC has had. (Those were all supposed to be "final" as well, weren't they?) What makes this one special?

They even titled one of those "Final Crisis", to drive the point home.

Well, those two months are going to bleed my wallet dry. But following that, I expect to only read two titles, one of which is going to be Hitch's JLA title (and knowing Hitch, it's gonna be a quarterly book at best), and the other one being the Martian Manhunter solo book, which I'm just gonna test out. I love the character, but I loathe many interpretations of him.

Edit: Forgot about Section Eight, but that's a mini, anyway.

There haven't been any Crises since the Final Crisis. There has been a Flashpoint and a Convergence, but no Crisis.

Convergence 0 is out today. I had a chance to read it at Comixology. It sets up the concept of the series, but if you're looking for any action, you won't find it here. It's basically the 52 Superman and a Brainiac avatar bickering.

Also, if you have been reading Earth 2 Worlds's End. I found it disappointing. The series is over, but not the story. It continues right into Convergence 1. What happened to the days where they actually completed a storyline before starting the next one?

Well crap. I was looking forward to that story being wrapped up. I'll be heading over to the comic shop in a few hours to pick my books up so I guess we'll see how I like both those books.

Convergence #0 was ok, but nothing special. I'll have to wait to see ow it plays out but so far I am not super stoked.

I thought Earth 2 went down hill full-stop - the endless repetitive war was a complete turnoff.

^It was. I stuck with it because I wanted to see how it would end but they really did drag it out.

That and way too many sub-plots with characters who were introduced during the war and were written too thin for the reader to care - Dick Grayson and his quest for his son for example.

The last issue of Earth 2 I read was last August's--I liked the ending to their Bizarro-esque Superman saga so maybe I should just stop there?

1) Earth -2 had some of the worst editors from DC working on it.

2) Robinson didn't want to share the sandbox and then editorial took control of it after he left.

So, Convergence #0 was a weird book. It was a standalone story that took place between the pages of the ending of Superman: Doomed that the main character doesn't even remember!

I did geek out at seeing every version of Brainiac appearing, even the 90s Animated Series version!

I found a useful, if not strictly necessary, context setter for the "event". I also enjoyed seeing the classic Brainiac of my youth (Silver Age) with a more menacing edge than the old days. YMMV

Convergence Week 1 out today. I read Convergence 1 and Nightwing/Oracle.

Convergence 1 was another introduction to the concept, this time starring refugees from (Nu52) Earth 2. Their arrival without a city convinces Telos (the planet's avatar I assume) that it's time for the endgame and drops the domes and sets the cities against each other.

I enjoyed it but really hope more happens next time. I am so tired of these weekly series that feel so padded. The info in this issue could have been related over a few pages, instead of a whole book.

Fastback of the Zoo Crew teaming up with Wally West might make this whole event worth it.

Also seeing Superman in his proper costume.

I just read the first issue as well as the Superman and Justice League tie-in issues. I thought Convergence #1 was pretty god and I liked the Superman issue, but I didn't like the Justice League issue at all. The only other one from this week I'm going to read is Speed Force #1.
