DC Comics - Ongoing Discussion - SPOILERS

Johns left GL like two years ago, you're saying Darkseid War had to have happened all the way back then? :cardie:
Why shouldn't it?Iits not like these storiy unfold in the time the issues are released. The entire Darkseid War probably takes place over a few day rather than most of a year. The first arc of JLA might have lasted less than a month in universe.

I haven't read it yet, but isn't the current Superman story about him dying a direct consequence of him going all black energy in the Darkseid War?

Also, is the entire Batman Endgame/Superheavy arc supposed to be after Darkseid War then? Because Bruce learned the Joker's identity in DW but they never mentioned it there.

The problem with all this is we know the DW must have nearly zero consequences since we haven't seen any in all these stories :nyah:

Its one of three reasons. One from JL, One from JLA And one from the Superman books.
I'd say before all the current arcs in all the solo books.
When DW ends we'll see if he retains the knowledge of the Joker's identity.
Why should the consequences of DW show up in other books? Its a Justice League story. It's not like any of the Leaguers with solo books will die or be changed by events in a JL title.

I'm posting this here because I can't think of anywhere else to post it, even though it's only tangentially comics-related.

I've got several questions that I'd like to see answered because they're relevant to a project I'm putting together right now.

1) Was there ever a time when comics writers considered giving Zatanna Zatara an actual codename besides just calling her by her first name, and, if so, do we know what was considered?

2) If no official "alternate codenames" for Zatanna exist, what would some good "unofficial codenames" for her be based on her magical abilities?

3) Does anyone know if there's any concept art - official or otherwise - out there depicting Barbara Gordon in a non-Bat-themed superhero costume?

I'd appreciate it if people respond, even if they don't exactly have concrete answers for my questions, since I'm kind of desperate to figure things out in regards to this project I'm working on.

1) I've never heard of any such plans. She comes from the tradition of magical heroes who use their actual names like Dr. Strange and Mandrake.
2) I suppose something like :"Spellcaster", "Logos" or "Vox Magi" might work.
3) I don't recall Barbara having any identities other than Batgirl and Oracle. So I've never seen her in a non-Bat costume. I suppose the Oracle avatar might count as a costume.

Well, while it is Bat-family themed, Barbara Gordon was Nightwing in the Smallville sequel comics.

So, that's technically not based on a Bat, and (from what I remember) in her universe there was no Dick Grayson as NW (and she was never Batgirl) so she made that persona herself. Does that count?

Thanks for the name suggestions for Zatanna.

It does, actually, since there's enough different about that costume to make her her own character, and I think I could use the Oracle name in association with that costume easily enough.

As an aside, the reason I asked the questions I did is because I'm trying to put together an 8-member Justice League team for a project I'm working on that adheres to the following self-imposed criteria:
1) Each member of the team has to have been a JL member in the comics

2) 4 of the team members have to have appeared in live-action television previously

3) The team's membership needs to be split 4/4 along gender lines (4 male members/4 female members)

In trying to figure out a team roster with those 'requirements' in mind, I settled on either Zatanna or Oracle, but wanted to give Zatanna a codename beside her own first name if I used her and/or have Oracle use that codename but not a Bat-themed costume.

Anybody else got codename suggestions for Zatanna and/or costume suggestions (brief text descriptions will do fine) that I could use for Oracle?

I like the idea of borrowing from/pastiching the Smallville comics and using Barbara as Nightwing/Oracle, so if I do end up going with her, that's what I'll likely end up doing... which leads me to another question. Picking between Zatanna and Barbara, who do you think would fit in better with Wonder Woman, Jade, Starfire, and my 4 male members: Batman, Metamorpho, Aquaman, and Captain Atom?

I'm guess that's Stephanie Brown as the Blue Lantern, but who's the Red?

I came across the existence of a really obscure DC Comics character named Conjura who was basically a Black version of Zatanna, and decided to appropriate her name as Zatanna's codename, so my JLA is officially complete as follows:
Nathaniel Adam/Captain Atom
Diana/Wonder Woman
Bruce Wayne/Batman
Zatanna Zatara/Conjura
Orin/Aquaman
Jennifer-Lynn Hayden/Jade
Rex Mason/Metamorpho
Koriand'r/Starfire

I'd like to thank the people who responded to my queries for their suggestions and comments, and might actually use the Barbara Gordon as Nightwing idea somewhere.
