DC Comics is doing new versions of The Flintstones, Johnny Quest, Scooby Doo, Wacky Races

They can avoid it if that's the case by just not including her!!!!!! There are plenty of good female characters in there without adding one here. And as you say The Impossibles don't fit with the other characters - so instead of having them in the main story why didn't they just have a separate short story at the end with them in their original form as light-hearted relief? I do like some of the more realistic fan art of them, but for this I think they should have stuck pretty much to the original style. We Impossibles fans have been really short-charged - first of all the series is cancelled on T.V. because some 2-bit pressure groups where whining about it being "too violent", (don't remember anyone ending up in intensive care in the series)!!!!!!! and now there is some new official stuff it looks like they might be sticking some token female in there who will take some of the attention off the proper members if that's the case! Wouldn't be surprised if they put in some angst-ridden stuff about their past to make it even "gritter" - (there is room for that of course but I really don't think The Impossibles is it). Personally, I wouldn't want an origin story in their case - I like the fact that this, their backgrounds and their birth names have been a mystery. DC, which used to be my favourite comic brand, messed up so many of their titles with "Crisis on Infinite Earths" and endless reboots, including my favourite the Legion of Super heroes, (a team in which new members being added - and occasionally some leaving - DID work), look like they will mess these up, as well. Sorry to say I'm thinking it will be good if these titles are over and forgotten very soon..............!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm with you on DC ruining characters. My favorite was Green Lantern until Geoff Johns turned his book into the Rainbow Connection...

But I'm going to give Future Quest a go, at least the first issue, and see what's what. Who knows? The girl impossible may be likeable...

Don't care how wonderful she might be - don't want her in The Impossibles!!!!!!!! Even you calling her the "girl Impossible" makes me cringe.........!!!!!!! Really hope she isn't. Another character who would help them out from time to time, fine - but definatelty don't want a new member!!!!! If that's the case, I don't think it's even worth wasting my time flicking through a copy if I'm near a comic shop.
I also loved Green Lantern and really looked forward to new issues until that was ruined by lame attempts to fix what was never broken - loved the majestic mystery of the Guardians on Oa - but the whole thing was ruined - DC again!!!! From my favourite comic line to something I hardly recognise!!!!!!!!

An idea - if they are REALLY set on making Future Quest "Dark and Gritty" (sorry to keep using that tired cliche) -
Fantastic Max is revealed to not be a human baby. but a thousand-year-old alien villain who is the mastermind behind whatever devastating threat the heroes have joined up against. He unleashes a powerful weapon which will release chemicals that will mentally enslave all of mankind and all other sentient life-forms to do his evil bidding - unless someone steps in front of it's deadly ray, sacrificing their self but ending the threat as the weapon can only be used once. (H'mm.......wonder which character I have in mind for that)??!!!!! This works and everyone else is unaffected except that their memories of this character are totally erased so she's never mentioned again! Think DC will hire me for this?

@S.Gallagher Maybe I'm misinterpreting you but... perhaps you don't want a new Impossible female member? It's something that I believe I'm reading between the lines but I could be wrong...

Whereas my reason for actively disliking the "Future Quest" previews is because it leaves out the core female part of the team, Jessie Bannon.

Didn't actually see the series when she was in it - was she an asset, or just there as a nod to some idea of gender equality/political correctness?

The second one.

It was the nineties, and some idiot at HB decided to make Jonny Quest a hip teenager and added an action-girl/love interest...and a virtual reality computer, cause VR computers were cooool.

That version sucked ass. I'm glad they're not portraying it in the comics.

"Shudder" don't know WHERE they get the idea that this stuff will be popular............. at least the apparition in blue didn't appear with The Impossibles on the first cover version we saw, so perhaps there's hope yet.............still don't think this is the ideal setting for them, mind you!

Have to say - there are some ideas for an Impossibles reboot by supposed fans which are beyond dire............ a couple have suggested one in which Multi Man is now a female - oh, all right - do they fancy a new version of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" in which Jessica is reimaged as a hunky guy? Thought not! and some in which it's about the children of The Impossible - when we were done out of more of the originals by the middle-class-trendy-neurotic-killjoys getting it curtailed by carping about it being "too violent"!!!!! There was one which was talking about a version with the daughters of The Impossibles as an R'n'B group in their musician identity.........words fail me - (well they don't but I'm being reserved)! Pass the bucket!!!!!

Calm down, S. You just gotta stay away from the comic. I, for one, am not going anywhere near that Flintstones mess...

An asset for sure. Race's daughter, and made a power trio with Jonny and Hadji in the more interesting 90s version that aged everybody up a few years. Jonny as the most action-y taking after Race, Hadji as the most science-y taking after Dr. Quest, and Jessie in between. Sadly often written as more of a "damsel in distress" (complete with pink outfit) later on, but the first season has her as much nearer Jonny's equal in the action. For as much as a 90s kid cartoon would allow that when Jonny's the titular hero.

Anyway, she exists and makes for a more interesting cast set, so it's disappointing to leave her out.

ETA: Worth noting I suppose that I'm a 90s kid and The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest was one of my very favorite cartoons as a kid.

You obviously really liked her, but I would think she isn't included here because she wasn't popular? As to the girl in blue being a new Impossibles member, I definately won't do my little bit to encourage them by buying it.

Bleh. As a child of the '80s, I really despised the newer JQ series and its VR gimmick, so I can do without Jessie.

If her squatting on the Impossimobile bonnet has been trumped up as a new member of the team, I can do without her - let's hope it happens soon - in time for The Impossible's 50th anniversary of their first T.V. on September 10th - if there is some sort of official tribute to them - it won'r be MY idea of a tribute if it includes that!!!!!!!! Better still before the end of the story...........!!!!
