DC Comics is doing new versions of The Flintstones, Johnny Quest, Scooby Doo, Wacky Races

But who is the girl on the car? An original character?

Edit: I want a dark and gritty reboot of The Impossibles!!! :D

Like a lot of those old cartoons, it is literally the result of some clueless executive mashing two unrelated but popular things together & counting on the artists to make it work. Kids like Music Bands & superheros right??

Just imagine the possibilities of a modern reboot.
The members of a boy band that are secretly super-heroes!
Sex! Drugs! Superpowers!!! Producers that are sexual predators AND super-villains!

I said that on page one of the thread.

That would explain it, then. I only started "airing" in 1968 myself.

I was born in '69. It's called reruns.

Actually...........The Impossibles is my all-time favourite cartoon and in the last few years I've been pleased to see how many appreciate it as well as other Hanna-Barbera cartoons! But there is NO WAY I want a "dark and gritty" reboot - works for some things, but NOT for The Impossibles! Anyway, doing that for series/titles which were never intended to be that way is no longer new and fresh, or "edgy" - it's old and tired now. And I really hope the girl in blue is NOT a new member - adding new ones works for some teams, but not here. If that's the case, is it some sort of nod to gender equality? I'm female but I don't want new members of either sex. (And HB has plenty of good female characters anyway). The other titles just seem to me like an exercise in fixing what was never broken - sadly, it seems this one could be as well. I was hoping for something special as it's the 50th anniversary of The Impossibles, (and some other HB cartoons) this year - but I don't think this is it. Will have to see, I suppose. Lady in blue, if you are a new Impossible, you get my vote - in minus numbers of 7 figures!!!!

The artist has stuck that on the Impossimobile but not drawn Multi Man's cape! Priorities, please!!!!!!

So, S.Gallagher, I'm guessing you're not a fan of this new Impossibles take.

In the creators' defense though, the rest of the line-up (with the exception of maybe Frankenstein, Jr.) is made up of HB cartoons that were supposed to be "serious" science fiction and superhero series. You can't add the Impossibles to that kind of grouping without de-cartooning them some.

As for them adding a girl...I could be wrong, but if she is a new Impossible it's just a sign of the times we can't avoid.

They can avoid it if that's the case by just not including her!!!!!! There are plenty of good female characters in there without adding one here. And as you say The Impossibles don't fit with the other characters - so instead of having them in the main story why didn't they just have a separate short story at the end with them in their original form as light-hearted relief? I do like some of the more realistic fan art of them, but for this I think they should have stuck pretty much to the original style. We Impossibles fans have been really short-charged - first of all the series is cancelled on T.V. because some 2-bit pressure groups where whining about it being "too violent", (don't remember anyone ending up in intensive care in the series)!!!!!!! and now there is some new official stuff it looks like they might be sticking some token female in there who will take some of the attention off the proper members if that's the case! Wouldn't be surprised if they put in some angst-ridden stuff about their past to make it even "gritter" - (there is room for that of course but I really don't think The Impossibles is it). Personally, I wouldn't want an origin story in their case - I like the fact that this, their backgrounds and their birth names have been a mystery. DC, which used to be my favourite comic brand, messed up so many of their titles with "Crisis on Infinite Earths" and endless reboots, including my favourite the Legion of Super heroes, (a team in which new members being added - and occasionally some leaving - DID work), look like they will mess these up, as well. Sorry to say I'm thinking it will be good if these titles are over and forgotten very soon..............!!!!!!!!!
