But the thing is, to me, it's just not the JSA without some of the core characters, especially Green Lantern Alan Scott and Flash Jay Garrick. And, yeah, I've always liked Wildcat too.

Every adaptation is its own entity, its own reality. What matters isn't whether it's similar to something else, just whether it's good on its own terms. I've never cared about much Dr. Fate or Hawkman in general, but I liked these specific versions of them.

So, these ads were included in this week's DC Comics, apparently:

All those other bands are fictional bands in the DC Universe. Mucous Membrane was the band John Constantine played in, Black Canary is the band of, obviously, Black Canary, Banshees of Metropolis is the band of Silver Banshee and The Great Frog is really deep cut, they're from the 1970s comics featuring Roy Harper (aka Speedy, Arsenal and Red Arrow) and Mal Duncan (second Guardian) of Teen Titans fame.

That web domain leads to the official website for the Superman movie.

It's so great to have DC movies and TV that are such inspired fun.

I've liked all of Gunn's stuff that I've seen over the years. But between Creature Commandos, Superman, and Peacemaker this year i've become a devoted fan.

If this place means anything comparatively speaking, Superman is being talked about more than Fantastic Four. The two review threads are roughly 900 comments for Supes vs. 160 for F4.

One of the folks tracking these films was talking about the legs of the two movies, and said that while all the FF WOM is positive, it's not tending to be as energetically enthusiastic as for Superman. "Not driving walk-ups" is the phrase; it's very satisfying to the tradition CBM audience.

I have to confess, even though I'm a bigger Marvel fan both with the comics and the movies, I actually enjoyed Superman more than FF. It was the complete opposite of what I'd been expecting since the movies were announced.

I have to admit, when they started talking about how much Lois was a punk rock fan I was a little shocked that they mentioned Mucus Membrane.

The singers who sang the song for movie also performed it live at Peacefest during SDCC.
