DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

Well there is barely anything in the trailer that you wouldn't see on a show like True detective except a few seconds of a green bird and a few random green effects (no Sinestro doesn't count, take off the makeup and he's just another generic detective show character). This is obviously some producers generic detective idea bought by DC and with the main characters renamed to match DC heroes, with a few seconds of special effects that vaguely resemble Green Lantern stuff added.

Who'd have thought in 2011 that the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern film they made then was literally the best WB could do, and that it would only get worse. The costumes and "Sinestro" somehow looking worse 15 years later is especially pathetic, I'll never make fun of the 2011 CGI GL suit ever again. Hell the 90s made for TV Justice League had a better Green Lantern suit, and that suit was way more blue then green for some reason.

I can't wait to see the Gunnverse Flash, where a High School Science Teacher named Barry Allen gets struck by lightning so he has to start making and selling meth to pay back his medical bills. After that will probably be Green Arrow, a show about a misogynistic businessman running the Queen Advertising Agency in the 60s who doesn't fight crime or shoot a bow but he'll be named Oliver Queen and have an intern named Roy Harper. I was going to make a Sopranos joke but then I remembered that the horrible Penguin show already exists  (although to be fair its not in the Gunnverse).

I'm beginning to question whether or not you watch the trailers or just post your reaction based on the thumbnail picture.

I might be in the minority when I say this, but, IMO, I don't think the Dark Knight trilogy is aging well. To me, they've lost their rewatchabilty
They could all stand to be trimmed by a few minutes or so, there's too much bloat, and, by the third film, I think Nolan is, in part, going through the motions as part of a contractual obligation rather than bringing anything new to the table.

I felt the first two films told a complete, satisfying story of Batman inspiring Gotham's citizens to rediscover hope and reclaim their city, and then the third film had to walk a lot of that back to justify its existence, so it didn't work as well.

My take is that, when you ignore all evidence to the contrary, you can conclude anything.

I'm extremely interested in this show.

That said, one concern I have right now about the story is that it will reduce human bigotry and extremist behavior to extraterrestrial influence. There were a couple of beats in the trailer that suggested to me that that might be the angle, though of course I don't know. Of course, it's fair to say that, even if it is the angle, it could still be compelling.

I guess the question is - who's actually human in that trailer...

Looks very interesting

And now for some actual news! New Lanterns trailer!

"Oh, he has a feeling."

I know everyone is here for all things Lanterns but I'm also here for Kelly Macdonald and her dry wit. :D

As for the rest of the trailer, I hope this makes all of the people who want more cosmic elements in the show happy.
Manhunters! Woohoo!

The Martian Manhunter has nothing to do with these Manhunters, I don't want to say to much more than that though, I don't want to ruin things for anybody who isn't aware of their comic book history.
Making them shapeshifters might indicate combing the two concepts. Though J'onn's star has risen over the decades. Som I'm not sure they'd "waste" him here.

Not much strength to be seen.

Superman did not make $850 million.

I just saw a video which claimed that Marvel looked at the Magure & Garfield SPiderman movies and learned from the strengths and weaknesses of both.... That's what i can see with comparing to previous incarnations, and the DCFU was in the middle of the MCU wave, so it's not like ancient history of the 70's

Fair point, but we all know that's not what TG1 has been doing.

Oh, OK I couldn't remember the Manhunters shapeshifting in other adaptations, but I thought maybe that was something from the comics the other versions just didn't use.

Here's the tie-in: "The Manhunters are the first attempt of the Guardians of the Universe to create an interstellar police force that could combat evil all over the cosmos." (Wikipedia)

Also: "The Manhunters infiltrate and liberate many planets disguised as living beings and create a "Cult of the Manhunters" that trains others to be their minions."

Damn, now this is more like it. I had already been looking forward to this, but now that I see there will be more comic elements to this than it had originally appeared, now I'm really getting excited.

My bad then as i'm not a DC "expert" ( can't remember when i held an actual DC comicbook in my hands, it has been decades).

I assumed from the name and that one of them has these crossed upper body belts that i see the Martian Manhunter in pictures with as part of his costume that the chances are that it would be the introduction. Quick Google search showed otherwise but it may still happen somehow ;)
