DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

Hmmm.

Not the best photo to show off the suit. A lot of the reaction online is "I don't hate it". Suit looks a bit loose thanks to the position he is in and then there is the collar which I'm not really a fan of.

We've seen heroic posing and mid-action first looks in the past and I've never been totally sold on the design choices. Overall I like this, and I assume it'll look better in the finished film. Blue suit, red trunks, long cloth cape...I'm into it.

I wish it were simpler, though. Not only am I not a fan of the general trend of making superhero costumes ultra-textured, but Superman's costume is supposed to be something he can wear under his street clothes without it being noticed. Granted, that's always been a tough sell with the cape and boots, but at least it should be something thin and form-fitting. It's not like Superman needs body armor, after all.

Looks CW level bad in this photo. Whoever thought this was the best way to introduce the suit thought wrong.

Agreed; the point was to suggest this SM had been through some work up to this point, but the costume appears loose, like a party store discount suit. Yes, its CW levels of bad, as you point out, and with very few exceptions, CW production standards--including costume design and construction--were laughably amateur level.

One can only hope the Gunn suit "somehow" does not appear that way in the film.

Definitely worse than this. Here Cavill is actually tyring to do something....and not taking his time to get ready by putting on his boots.

Agreed, and if the message of the Gunn photo was to say "this is a job for Superman", he does not seem to be in any hurry to get to the scene of whatever problem he's supposed to face. Unless he's supposed to be hurt (dirty costume?) / drained / weary, but he resigns himself to putting on the costume in any case.

That could be (out of context photo has innumerable interpretations). I’m loathe to judge a film based on a snapshot. But I do prefer the Cavill photo (no secret that I’m a big fan of Man of Steel, though).

I'll join the chorus as one who has never liked a Super-suit with a collar.

Somehow, having more of an exposed neck look makes him look more powerful and ready to go to me. YMMV.
