DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

I do chuckle when I see DC grouped with WBD's other major assets. I don't think that would have been the case last Century. Comics were barely a footnote in the corporate structure back then.

For most of the century, maybe, but I think that started to change in the late '80s.

You know, if that many corporations want to buy WB, with Paramount appearing almost desperate to get their hands on it, that means they all think the studio will be more profitable in the future. Maybe the current shareholders should think about whether they really want to sell.

I guess I was also considering the setting, Ferris and Coast City. Green Lanterns trips to space should be trips and reserved for stuff he needs to do. As for Chandler, I liked him on Early Edition back in the day and on Friday Night Lights.

Kyle Chandler is the main reason I'm excited for the Green Lanterns show. I haven't seen all his work by any means, but Early Edition was a favorite family show when I was a kid, and I absolutely loved Friday Night Lights.

The fact that it took until the final season for him to win an Emmy in the role on FNL was criminal.
It felt like a consolation win.

The thing for me is that it'll be interesting to see how he plays Hal. I'm thinking that this version is going to be worn down and pessimistic than the Hal we know and part of the story will be about how he gets his groove back. We won't see a cocky young Hal, but a more "seasoned" version.

Sounds like Alan Ritchson is in talks to play a villain or anti-hero. Any ideas besides Kite Man?

“Yes. That’s the conversation that I’ve been having with them is like, ‘I want to play somebody a little messier.’ And I told them, I said, if I’m going to do this, I described to them the kind of personality that I’d want to play and what that would mean to their world, and I think it’s something everybody wants to see right now over there. So yes, I want to play somebody a little dirtier than your typical clean-cut protagonist.”

So, he's playing Hawk again? ;)

I wonder how they're going to square this with Guy Gardner in the Superman movie.

Do we think Hal has given up the ring and Guy has assumed the mantle, while Hal trains a young John Stewart as his replacement.

I don't think Guy will appear in the series, unless it's background footage from the movie.

Well, I'm just going by the old comics which said that Abin Sur found two worthy candidates when he crashed and chose Hal over Guy because Hal was closer; however, when Hal found he chose Guy as his backup, but Guy was injured in a crash, so Hal chose John.
When Guy was finally given a chance to wear the ring, an impurity caused the ring to explode when being charged and threw Guy into another dimension, where he witnessed Hal become intimate with Guy's girlfriend, which created a lifelong jealousy upon his return and his subsequent aggressive personality.

I'm pretty sure you can see a Green Lantern ring on Hal's finger in the picture they released.
