DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

While S4 of SuperGirl was good for what it is (it was "Alright" in the grand scheme of things, but something about the writing & characterization still went wrong), but S5 & S6 wasn't as stellar IMO as earlier seasons.
I dunno, something went horribly wrong after S3 of SuperGirl, I lost interest after S4.
S5/6 was a slog that I couldn't be bothered to finish.

So it's literally sitting on my "Unfinished Pile" of things to watch.
All opinion and all subjective, but I loved the show's fourth season. And FWIW, I'm hardly alone: It won that year's Saturn Award for best superhero TV series, beating out all the other CW DC shows as well as comicbook series on other networks, and Melissa Benoist recently called it her favorite season of the show. Kreisberg wasn't missed at all.

I agree that the show's quality absolutely fell off a cliff with season five, however, for reasons I've never been able to figure out.

Something happened after S3, and it really sent SuperGirl in the wrong direction IMO.
There was a HUGE drop between S3 & S4 for average season ratings.
The average ratings never recovered to what was once a high point in the earlier seasons.
Especially since it got moved from CBS to CWTV.

You have to remember that:
SuperGirl's Average Seasonal Viewership Figures
S1 = 9.81 Million (This was when it was on CBS)
S2 = 3.12 Million (This was when it got moved to CWTV)
S3 = 2.82 Million
S4 = 1.67 Million
S5 = 1.58 Million
S6 = 1.17 Million

Not new news, and not even news, just an actor's wishful thinking, but Tyler Hoechlin wants to play Batman. And Bitsie Tulloch wants to be Catwoman.

I dunno, I tried to watch it and it wasn't very good.

Maybe it failed because it sucked.

What's weird is that Barry's introduction was nearly the only worthwhile scene in the first two hours of the Snyder cut.

I'm not inclined to equate ratings with quality. I thought Black Lightning was a superb show, and that its third season was its best. Here are its numbers:

S1 = 2.73 Million
S2 = 1.44 Million
S3 = 1.09 Million
S4 = 0.74 Million

I thought it was a half decent way to kill 90 or so minutes, though not something I ever plan to revisit.

I thought it's 1st Season was it's best by far; after that, especially with the re-casting of one of the daughters later on.
But that's neither here or there.

Jennifer's recasting wasn't till partway through the show's fourth and final season, so it wasn't a factor till very late in the series' run.

Also, on the subject of ratings, Supergirl was moved to Sundays for its fourth season, which is a lower ratings night for most shows.

But neither of us can really "prove" our case. I adored Supergirl season four, you didn't. It's a subjective thing.

Pretty sure it's "Supergirl"

Pretty sure it's "Supergirl"
Don't worry, I do the wonky capitalization for many things.
"SuperMan" & "SuperGirl" are included =D.

It's just part of my writing style.

It's like the difference between "Starfleet" & "StarFleet".
One just looks nicer to me when you have to write it out.
It has more "Ooomph" with that extra capitalization.

Not sure spelling works that way, but you do you.

By any English language rules really, but if it catches on you never know.

I want to shout out Man and Girl in my head when I read that. When I was a kid, it took me forever to remember which heroes had spaced or hyphenated names. Was it Green-Lantern? Spiderman? Ironman? Bat-Man? The only two I remembered consistently were Superman and Captain America.

1) The Flash is literally the 4th most popular charcter in the Justice League.

Possibly.

So you're basing a movie on a lower tier popularity character, that already has it working against it.
It's not a impossible feat to overcome, (Guardians of the Galaxy) is living Proof along with the numerous other Comic Book movies about other previously less popular hereoes.
But it sure doesn't help. Especially to a main stream audience.

This is the exact opposite of what you just said. DC isn't limited to only 3 popular characters and the guy in fourth place is suddenly a nobody.

Trust me, to a "Main Stream" audience, you might as well be.
If you aren't Batman/Superman, you might as well have not existed in the mind of normies.
For us nerds, we know who he is. But that's us in our little bubble where we know who everybody is.

That's not a accurate reflection of what normal non-fans/normal audience members who they are trying to target will know about.

No, that's insanely reductionist. Yes, Flash is a b lister compared to Batman. No, that is not the same as z listers who most people have never heard like the gotg. Flash has been a comics mainstay for most of DC's history, a cartoon mainstay for decades, a video game mainstay for many years, the star of two live action tv shows, and regularly referenced on other (non-dc) shows as well as had tons of prominent merch ever since 'nerdy' became 'cool'.

As a character he has about as good of a foundation for making the leap to the big screen that anyone could reasonably ask for (because those a listers didn't become superstars overnight, either).
