Am I the only one who finds Bishop annoying? His return is the only thing I'm not looking forward to.

@Christopher I agree about Constantine, especially about wishing they were reviving his show instead of creating a new one.

This is still easily the best of these shows (and one my favourite shows in general, really!), but the whole thing with Constantine not being able to do magic is confusing me. I get that he lost all his magical ability, but why can't he just relearn it? Astra is relearning magic from scartch, with no innate ability, and is already able to do simple spells. So why can't John just learn at the same pace as her? Is this explained or am I just going to have to ignore it...

Yeah, I think so. After operating at a high level for so long, he resents the idea of having to start over in magic kindergarten. It's pride, the same reason he hasn't told anyone else that he lost his powers. Plus he's an addictive personality to begin with, and he's been deprived of his usual fix.

Basically, the explanation for anything John Constantine does is that he's a deeply screwed-up human being full of self-loathing and prone to self-sabotage, in ways that tend to drag others down with him.

Yep. It was bizarre but in it's way made more sense than some of the show's deeper mythology episodes this season. Sometimes a little simplicity is nice.

I kind of figured during the wedding dress montage that Ava was going to figure out that Gary was distracting her, so I was surprised when that ended up not being the case.

It was a little unclear to me but I'm assuming the areas that were the holes got restored at the end (based on the highlighting when Earth was put back into it's proper place, otherwise Earth-Prime is going to have some massive gaps in it).

I didn't realize until looking at the episode's cast list after the fact that Mike the Strike was played by Nic Bishop (who is actually married to Ava Sharpe actress and episode director Jes Macallan). I only really know him was his role on Covert Affairs and he was completely unrecognizable in this.

I'd been wondering how an episode set in a bowling alley could end up as the most expensive of the season but I could see where the money went.

The concept of aliens turning planets into bowling balls and playing for their survival is exactly like something out of Silver Age DC. That's just the kind of freaky, absurd premise they did all the time in the '50s and '60s.

And complete with the questionable issues of scale. I doubt Spooner's fire gun could have really reached far enough to burn Mike's finger, and on that scale he wouldn't have even felt it. (Unless maybe the flame passed through the miniaturization field and grew to full size, I guess.)

It was kind of a reach that Astra's unpracticed "granny-style" roll just luckily happened to result in a strike. I kept expecting it to turn out that the Legends had found a way to cheat with magic or something.

Saying that though, those aliens were pretty powerful to do that to the Earth. I wish they would explain that a little more

No, @thribs, I thought that too at first! Then, as @Christopher pointed out, I realized it was too big. But I loved how it turned different colors when each person handled it!

I really enjoyed this episode. It was a lot of fun.

I thought that might be the case, but that's not their usual depiction. In Jack Kirby's art, Mother Boxes were about the size of a large smartphone.

Given what we know about next season, and about the character's wider future in mass media, it's conceivable.
