David Mack is GUSHING about it...this should settle it

Beyond was entertaining, exciting, uplifting and smelt of TOS Trek in a long missed way, I'd love a TV show that was half as good.
Insurrection and Nemesis were the creaks and groans of a franchise collapsing up its own rectum, so the less of that sort of Trek is in this new show, the better.
You typed exactly what I would have in response to that post -- so, no need for me to retype it - I'll just quote it. ;)

If Discovery is on par with Beyond, I'm through. Done. Finished. It's the only Trek film I didn't bother to see at the cinema, and I'm glad I didn't waste the money.

And yes, I regret buying tickets for Insurrection and Nemesis.
Beyond would have fit in perfectly as a TOS episode. Would it have been a classic? No, but no one would have been like," what the hell was that ?!" You can tell it was written by peg whose a trekker and genuinely good writer

It was the first of the Kelvin movies to feel like a real Star Trek movie, not...I don't know what to say about the first two. An attempt to put The Avengers into the Trek universe? For the first time, Chris Pine convinced me he was Kirk. For the first time this felt like the sort of story Trek is meant to tell.

It was guardians of the galaxy before the guardians of the galaxy. I am seriously not joking, go watch the 09 star trek movie with that in mind and you'll be gobsmacked. If it hadn't already occured to you. Love gotg by the way

Wiping out the bad guys by blasting music was, for me, ridiculously hokey. It was funny in Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and Mars Attacks! This time around? Stupid. Didn't work for me at all.

Discovery can only hope to be as interesting as the Kelvin Universe films.
it should be easy to be as interesting and hopefully have more substance than the films.

i would say discovery can only hope to have as much personality as the kelvin timeline films.

Star Trek: Beyond is the best of the Kelvin movies. I so flabbergasted that people thought of was the worst.

I thought is was by far the worst of the Abrams films. But it was still solidly entertaining, it did nothing to expand the Trek universe.
