It doesn't thus far seem like Discovery is going to even try introducing a new 'alien'. That's one of the disappointments of playing it safe with old news.Organic space thingies? Well, I guess the Undine/Species 8476 were popular...

That there was something equally idiotic on Voyager (of course there was, that's like the defining feature of VOY!) in no way changes my initial assessment.Voyager had an episode where the USS Equinox used alien corpses to superpower it's warp drive.
Too bad Johnny Cochran isn't around to play Gorgan. That would be hysterically funny. If we want DSC to include throwbacks to bad TOS episodes, I want a prequel story for "And the Children Shall Lead" called "The Angel Shall Follow".
Maybe they could get Courtney B. Vance.Too bad Johnny Cochran isn't around to play Gorgan. That would be hysterically funny.
One of those creepy kids was Caesar Belli, son of Melvin Belli. Maybe he could reprise his father's role:Too bad Johnny Cochran isn't around to play Gorgan. That would be hysterically funny.
I'm hoping that particular instance of working with this father put him off stage acting forever. And that he didn't follow daddy's flair for courtroom theatrics either. One of those creepy kids was Caesar Belli, son of Melvin Belli. Maybe he could reprise his father's role:

ST:Voy also had an episode where Cheese made the ship's systems 'sick'.Voyager had an episode where the USS Equinox used alien corpses to superpower it's warp drive.
They also had an episode where a highly advanced Quantum Slipstream superwarp drive was made up of a store-bought plasma ball and four lava lamps. But that's another issue for another time.
Besides the presence of Saru (which Tuskin has already mentioned), there is still plenty of room in the show for new aliens. It doesn't thus far seem like Discovery is going to even try introducing a new 'alien'. That's one of the disappointments of playing it safe with old news.
But that's not what most of you are doing. People like Rahul and Kirk5555555(55) are determined to hate it. That's judging it before they've seen it and they are far from alone.
You literally just called it the worst pile of crap star trek has ever produced without seeing an episode.....I hate to hear what people who don't like star trek have to say about it.I'm not determined to hate it. I'd love to, well, love it. But literally everything I've seen and heard, with the exception of the federation Starships exterior designs, is atrocious. When everything is terrible in every single piece of info released, of course I hate it. I have seen enough that I hate to form my opinion, I don't need to actually watch the show to form an opinion (although I will because I have to see the absolute worse pile of crap produced in one of my favorite franchises with my own eyes.
You don't have to agree with me, but its BS to say I was "determined" to hate it or that I've judged it without a huge amount of evidence.
Yeah, that is completely unreasonable. There's no fucking way this can be worse than 'Into Darkness'.

If Discovery is on par with Beyond, I'm through. Done. Finished. It's the only Trek film I didn't bother to see at the cinema, and I'm glad I didn't waste the money.Yeah, that is completely unreasonable. There's no fucking way this can be worse than 'Into Darkness'.
Beyond was entertaining, exciting, uplifting and smelt of TOS Trek in a long missed way, I'd love a TV show that was half as good.If Discovery is on par with Beyond, I'm through. Done. Finished. It's the only Trek film I didn't bother to see at the cinema, and I'm glad I didn't waste the money.
And yes, I regret buying tickets for Insurrection and Nemesis.
I gotta say, this is how I feel.Beyond was entertaining, exciting, uplifting and smelt of TOS Trek in a long missed way, I'd love a TV show that was half as good.
Insurrection and Nemesis were the creaks and groans of a franchise collapsing up its own rectum, so the less of that sort of Trek is in this new site, the better.
