David Goyer Teases the Next Batman Film!

Anyway, if Ra's is an Arab in spite of being played by Liam Nesson, then is there any reason that his Arab daughter be played by someone of that skin complexion?
Actually, it's a bit of a myth that all arab women have swarthy complexions. Their skin tone, overall, does tend to be darker than, say, someone from Sweden... but women from that general descent need not have any particular skin tone.

Just so you get what I'm saying... I happen to think that some of the most gorgeous women in the world tend to be from that descent, and the image of the woman posted earlier in this thread, with the spanish/arabic descent, is a perfect example. She's in no way what so many people think of as stereotypical "arab" any more than we now all believe that all Russian women are fat, burly, and growl a lot... the truth is, that's every bit as common in the good ol' USA as it is anyplace else. ;)

It will be Harlequinn...she'll try to revenge Joker's death (they'll use blurry flashbacks to suggest they were together before the events of Dark Knight)..she'll get Bane to help her (the big black dude on the barge) and there you go...Angela Joline will play her..

"Joker's death?"

You must be thinking of a different movie than the one I saw... Ledger may be dead, but the Joker isn't. (Well, for that matter, I'm not sure that Two-face is... but we KNOW that the Joker isn't.)

As for Bane... no, no Bane... please. Particularly after the laughable version seen in the last Schumacher flick.

You can't just toss in Bane and have the character have any relevance. And nobody knows, or cares, about him except for hardcore comic-readers.

I know we'll never see him but I always liked the Batman: TAS version of Clayface. I think they could do something pretty cool but clayface would probably be out of the dynamic they're going for with these films.

True, Joker is still alive at the end of Dark Knight. But they'll have some Mob-dude take the Joker out while in custody of the cops...that will set her off..

I do like the Clayface suggestion..so instead of Bane, throw in clayface..

John Lithgow as The Mad Hatter, please.

Barring that, bring back Rachel Dawes in her new identity of The Phantasm. :bolian:

I don't expect it, but I'd want to see Ra's al Ghul back--since, in time-honored tradition, we never saw a body--and this time with the Lazarus Pits. Given what Batman's become to Gotham by the end of the second film, "resurrection" would be a pretty appropriate theme for the next one.

Had Heath Ledger lived, it might've been nice to see R'as leading the League of Shadows back to Gotham specifically to squash the even worse chaos the Joker unleashed. Hence, a war over Gotham between R'as ("Destroy Gotham for the sake of order!") and the Joker ("Bash up Gotham just for the chaos!"), with Batman returning to help Gordon stop both, earning his way back into the public trust. Alas.

Whether you agree or not, judging from both fan reaction and near universal critical acclaim, “The Dark Knight” will almost certainly go down as the greatest comic book movie of all-time, with a performance from Heath Ledger that is being hailed as one of the greatest on-screen villains ever. Now all Christopher Nolan, his brother Jonathan, David Goyer, and an as yet unnamed villain have to do is top it.

“I think that’s the scariest thing – to think, could we come up with a third movie that was as good as the first two? Can we top ourselves?” screenwriter David Goyer asked aloud, almost rhetorically, in a recent conversation with MTV News. “Doing it a third time would be a big proposition.”

Make no mistake about it, though, a third film HAS been discussed, Goyer confessed, revealing that, while nothing is concrete, both a villain and a theme have been bandied about.

“We’ve only talked loosely about it, though, Chris and I,” Goyer said.
Interestingly, it’s the theme, and not the villain, that most interests me, especially given how the latter seems inexorably tied to the former in this new modern Batman universe. (Fear the predominant issue in “Begins” precipitating the introduction of Scarecrow, escalation in “Knight” similarly calling for The Joker.

The fact that Goyer has a theme he wants to keep in mind for a possible “Batman 3” means he also has a direction, a crisis, and, yes, a villain.
So what is it?

“I have one,” Goyer said laughing. “But I’m not going to tell you. Chris is very particular about that.

“I do think, though, that if there’s not a third film – these two movies stand on their own,” he added. “I think it could go either way.”
So what could the theme be?

Begins: Fear
Knight: Escalation
Next: Redemption?

Maybe the third theme could be acceptance in that Bruce finally realizes that he "needs" the Batman identity to make him whole.

Hmmmm.. this would actually be a decent idea... and could put to bed the whole "Is Dent really dead?" issue while allowing him to come back as well.

If Dent was revived in the Lazarus Pit... he'd be totally healed. PHYSICALLY, that is. But... what would his mind be like? Would Dent even go so far as self-mutilation to restore his "true face?"

I thought that the Dent makeup was terrific, for the most part, but was actually too extreme and more than a little bit illogical (ie, the eye couldn't have survived if all the tissue around it has been damaged!). I'd have preferred the eye to be present but damaged, and with a real socket and lid still present. Also... he couldn't TALK with his cheek open like it was in the CGI "makeup." Seriously.. he might be able to make himself understood but he wouldn't be able to speak "normally." Try it... hold your cheek away from the side of your mouth (so air can escape) and see how easy it is to talk.

So the makeup, while fantastic, would need to be less overt if they did it over again. Possible "skin grafts," but the Lazarus Pit would be even better.

Suppose, for instance, that Dent was revived by Ra's (who had already been revived) in order to become what Wayne had been intended to do and had failed to do... to become the "instrument of Gotham's destruction."

Same basic training... same philosophy... but totally willing to do it. And then when he restored his "real face," think of the impact of that.

The "opposite number" to Batman, basically.
