David Bowie Dead

I'm a little in Shock. I hope sooner rather than later we can find a cure for this dreaded disease.

RIP to a musical icon.

I just learned of this a few minutes ago, and it was such a shock! David Bowie was a music icon, a legend, a man who had a profound effect on the way we listened to music. I hate to say this, because it means he's truly gone, but rest in peace, David. The stars look very different today. :(

I only heard about it from my mom this morning. So sad. RIP David Bowie, you'll be missed :(.

RIP, Major Tom, Ziggy, Goblin King, The Man Who Sold the World, Mr. Bowie.

The Man Who Fell to Earth has returned to the Heavens.

Thank you for so many years of entertainment, David. You shall be missed.

If anyone has access to Freegal, they have his last album up there. It's a service that goes through local libraries.

I'm still in shock. I spent all weekend listening to Blackstar, and I've spent all day (radio at work, computer at home) listening to everything.

One of pop music's true innovators -- a total original with impeccable taste in music and a sixth sense for what will sell.

I first heard of him on a news broadcast back in his early days in the '70's. I took one look and decided that if he needed to draw attention to himself that badly, how good could his music actually be? Later, I was shocked to hear that these two songs I really liked, Rebel Rebel and Changes were both Bowie. Then I heard Fame and I thought, "git the eff out 'a here, that's NOT Bowie. I love being wrong like this.

If you can, try to catch the Showtime documentary on him. It is heavily devoted to the music and extremely interesting. The stripped, and original versions of the guitar and bass parts to some of his classics are positively thrilling.

With Natalie Cole in late '15, and Lemmy, and now the Thin White Duke, pop music has been a sad place to be.

RIP.

I like to think that he's just transformed one more time.

One of my favorite performances was when he played Nikola Tesla in "The Prestige". What a talent, what an icon, what an innovator.

RIP David Bowie.

If you haven't heard Bowie's final song off his last album, you should give it a listen. It's hard to watch and hard to listen to, because it's as if Bowie was saying goodbye.

Bowie's last album was released this past Friday on January 8th. The same day as his birthday.

So weird.

Last nights Simpsons had a David Bowie Joke in it.

Obviously the episode was written, recorded and animated months ago, but a day after he dies WHAM!

Spooky.

I've never been a fan in the classic (for want of a better word) sense - I don't own any of his works and never particularly wanted to - but for the nothing whatever that it's worth I can't say I ever heard a Bowie song I didn't like on some level. There's hardly anyone else I can say that about.

RIP to a genuinely innovative and original performer. And yet again, fuck cancer.

Good singer and good actor especially in Labyrinth (good fantasy film but i like Henson's other film The Dark Crystal better but still Labyrinth was solid), Prestige (his best performance), The Hunger (i saw this when i was 13 and seeing that Susan/Catherine love scene amazed me and thought Bowie made a good vampire) etc.

RIP,

Hated those news, Bowie has always had a precense in my life, loved his music, he was never boring.
Always something fun going on.
Bought his new album a day before the news...
He was many coloured facet of life!
Will be missed!
