Was anyone interested in seeing Affleck in a sequel to the first film?

I liked Daredevil--not only the director's cut (though it is the superior version of the movie), but the one I saw in theatres as well. Granted, the leads do their best to suck all life from the movie, but I liked the supporting cast, the story, the atmosphere, and the musical score introduced me to Evanescence. I'm sure something very good could be done with the material, as long as one gets an actor who doesn't manage to turn gritty into vapid, and an actress who doesn't look like she's trying to muddle her way through a high school talent show.

She's a bit far to the left for me, true, but I count her as a friend. We went to school together. And with her film school in Haiti now a pile of rubble, she might not pass on a cool job.

Still, I never read anything by her I enjoyed. I count the Longshot mini as one of the worst comics I've read. (And I've read alot of bad comics

I liked the first Daredevil movie too, and it has one of my all-time favourite movie scenes (when he looks at Elektra in the rain, and we see how he sees her).
I think Daredevil is a really interesting hero so I'm glad they're making another one.

I like the original, though I haven't seen the Director's cut. It's no Dark Knight or Spider-man 2 but it's much better than the 1989-97 Batman movies, the Fantastic Four efforts or the like.
I'd happily have watched a direct sequel to the Affleck version but as he has said categorically he won't go back, I'm relaxed about a reboot. You had to see that coming anyway and it's hardly being rushed out with the indecent haste of the next Spider-man movie.
I'd like to see DD played by someone in the wirier build of the comic version but I think it might be hard to improve on Michael Clarke Duncan's Kingpin. Colin Farrell was great fun as Bullseye, if not exactly authentic to the comics. Perhaps Jason Statham for a reboot?

I'll re-echo several others, watch the dirctors cut of DD. The movie becomes much more whole. Its not an instance where 10 min of various 15sec scenes would add much. The studio, no shock its FOX, had him cut out large portions of plot. Heck a whole new character is in those missing minutes.
I'll also agree that Daredevil is a character that if given TDK take works well as a brooding vigilante of justice.

He's like Batman, but with less resources. Daredevil can suppress crime in NYC, but he probably couldn't help the district attorney grab a criminal who has fled to Hong Kong.

^Sadly, "Top o' the Mornin' to Ya" is not included on the Daredevil soundtrack. Neither is the song played during the Kingpin's introduction, "I'm an Outlaw."
I feel slightly vindicated in this thread. It seems that the movie's reputation is slowly getting better. When it first came out, the most common refrain was "It sucks!" A few years ago, that had improved to "It sucks but the Director's Cut is pretty good." Now, even supporters of the original theatrical cut are coming out of the woodwork. Perhaps this movie is on its way to becoming an underappreciated gem, like David Lynch's Dune.
I love the Theatrical Cut. I'd say the Director's Cut is better but the Theatrical Cut is still really good. Ultimately, it still captures the proper emotional story that the movie is trying to tell.
Personally, I'd like to see an Ultimate Cut that combines the best elements of both versions. For example, I'd like to see a version of the Director's Cut that adds the confessional scenes back in.
With most franchises, even when a reboot is proposed, there's still at least one cast member that I desperately hope survives the transition. For Spider-Man, I hope they still keep J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. I'm still bummed that they didn't keep Sam Elliott as General Ross for The Incredible Hulk. For Daredevil, I hope they at least bring back Jon Favreau as Foggy Nelson.

I agree about Simmons and I think he will be back, a la Judi Dench in Bond. Elliott was excellent as Ross (he's excellent in anything and far too under-used anyway) but I thought Hurt was a fine replacement.
I don't think Favreau's Foggy, good comic foil that he was, was iconic or essential enough for him to be recalled and, anyway, he's probably too busy with Iron Man and Cowboys and Aliens to return to this franchise. What about Sean Astin?
works for me, but I'd rather see him as Reed Richards in a rebooted Fantastic Four movie (as RR in FF rather than MM in DD if you like). I'd imagine also that they'll want more of a name for Daredevil, just as before. Not quite sure if I can think of one who fits the bill offhand.
William Hurt was a little too loud as Thunderbolt Ross. I mean, I know he's suppose to be mean and in-your-face, but he was a bit over-the-top. Sam Elliot still had badass presence but was a bit more refined and subtle.

I'd like to see them follow Marvel's example with Hulk and Iron Man and cast a proper actor, what gets critical acclaim and Oscar noms and the like. I've been thinking of who might fit the bill in terms of stature, both physical and for his acting prowess. The one who comes to mind - and perhaps its the RDJ connection - is Jude Law. He's been connected to superhero projects before (most notably Superman returns) but I think he's a better fit for The Man Without Fear.
Of course, this is a Fox project, so we're unlikely to see them get someone like him. If they want to go for more of a pin-up trendy name, then they could do worse than Chris Pine. I think he'd be much more suited to this than Green Lantern (to which he was linked). For one thing, I think it would have been unwise of him to take on another space franchise at the same time as Trek. The more grounded DD would have far less potential for confusion.
Wahlberg was also in the running first time round, IIRC (ditto Guy Pearce) but I think the likes of Planet of the Apes, Sniper and Max Payne show he's not too well-suited to big franchises.
