News Daniel Craig signs up for Bond 25, Christopher Nolan in talks to direct

Daniel Craig was my introduction to the Bond series and he kind of is the quintessential Bond to me still. I guess it has a lot to do with which one's your first. That said, I would have been totally okay with a new actor or (even better) actress in the role.

A Nolan directed Bond sounds interesting. I would welcome his seriousness to the franchise.

Meh. If the's just there to collect a paycheck and muddle his way through like he did the last one, I'm not really interested.

There were moments in the film he came off as so disinterested and disengaged that I had doubts he had spent any considerable time studying the script. Sometimes I wondered if he even knew what film he was in.

It was an extremely poor performance, almost to the point of being unprofessional, especially given what a great actor he otherwise is. Frankly, I think his whole tenure as Bond has been hugely underwhelming and overrated. I'd put him at the bottom just above Lazenby. But a potato sack covered in duck feathers and chocolate would have been better than Lazenby.

The only one I remember of the four so far is Skyfall and that's because of Judy Dench.

That's very harsh on Lazenby who wasn't an experienced actor and who in no way disgraced himself in one of the better bond movies.

I certainly preferred him to Moore and Dalton.

Thing is the disinterested thing is a conscious choice. Bond doesn't care, with a few exceptions, about anyone or anything, once they've served their purpose they're disposable. It's one of the things he's done from the start.

He still isn't quite as good as Dalton of course ;-)

And in Spectre he was hamstrung by a lousy script, especially in the third act.

It actually took me a while to catch onto that. I remember after the first time I saw Casino Royale one of my first complaints was "why does he keep throwing his phones away, only to get a new one when he needs to do something different? Why doesn't he just have one phone to do everything?" I think it took nearly a year before someone pointed out to me he isn't just throwing phones away, he's throwing anything/everything away after it's no longer any use to him.

Because of this misunderstanding it always amused me when one of the complaints I saw many have about the Jeffrey Deaver modern Bond novel was that Bond's smart phone was used way too much.

Oh God the Deaver Bond was terrible for that. It wasn't just that he had a smartphone it was that literally Q had given him and app for everything. The probably could have just left Bond at home and sent the phone on the mission!

I don't even remember what Spectre is about. I only saw it once, but that's really freaking unusual for me. I hated each of the post-GoldenEye Brosnan Bonds, I saw each of them only once, but I remember what they were about. I'd rather just watch A View to a Kill again than revisit those, but I guess I need to give Spectre another whirl.

Spectre wanted to be the GCHQ and Blofeld is Bond's adopted brother. There, saved you two and a half hours of your life.

I liked Spectre a hell of a lot more than Skyfall, but even so, this NSFW rant pretty much covers the bases...
