Damn! It's hot!

Was it just in my area, or were people setting off fireworks on Friday night in other places, too? If they were going early last night, tonight (Saturday night) is going to be...noisy.
Yes, there were fireworks down at the beach last night. And I'm sure there will be more tonight, and probably some at the park.

Yeah, there were a lot going off Friday night, which is unusual. Fireworks are illegal in the city unless it's an authorized display, so maybe they thought they would set them off early before the cops were on the lookout for it.

In my West L.A. neighborhood, there are always a few folks who like to start their Fourth of July celebration a day or two early -- with a bang. I assume they buy their fireworks in Inglewood ’cause it's the only place within miles where they're legal.

For the past couple of weeks we've had PERFECT weather -- partly cloudy skies and daytime temperatures in the low to mid 70s (21 – 25ºC). Nyah-nyah, nuh nyah-nyah!

Same here. Fireworks were going off so often last night that I was confused for a minute, and actually forgot it was only the 3rd. That happens every year. Plus, around here, the neighbors set off fireworks for a day or two after the 4th.

I really dislike putting on the AC. Really, really. I'm more of a fan person, but man is it hot out! I broke down last night and turned it on because I just couldn't get to sleep. Good lord.

67° F (or 19.444444444444446° C for the furriners and eggheads) here in Huntington Beach, California, which is about average for most of the year and the reason why people here rarely need AC. Suck it. ;)

We need feature that converts temperatures automatically here.

27 C here yesterday, by the way.

You know, you can always put on a sweater indoors in winter and keep the thermostat below what you'd prefer. The heater still has to come on at some point.

In summer, it's still too hot even wearing just shorts and a t-shirt.

Hubby and I, being the totally anal-retentive people we are, track our bills. Since 2003, when we got our house, our power/gas bill has always been over $300 for July (often well-over) and right around $400 for August. And that's with the thermostat no lower than 77 F, but usually at 78 F. In winter, we drop the thermostat at night to 60 F, until just before it's time to get up, then have it warm the house to 68 F.

<ignore this stuff> Last month, our electric </ignore this stuff>

We've been warm all week (GTA, Canada) but today we got to 40C! I wandered the air conditioned mall for a while (no air at home)

that's nothing my friend. every once in awhile back home in hungary i drive my families combine. no air condition, no windows you can open and if you open the door the emergency brakes kick in. 45 degrees celsius outside and close to 70 inside the combine. try doing that for an afternoon instead of wandering a mall :techman:

Did propita suffer a bout of heat stroke in the middle of her post?

Oh shit!

Well, I didn't just delete it, because I didn't want people to think you were making stuff up about me. ;)

It's been a long day. I'm posting her on breaks of studying for the Bar and doing practice essays is ... not real exciting. I've done three. I need to study the damn law. I swear, I don't retain jack. I have 60 pages, at Times New Roman, font size 9. I'm not going to know all of it, but damn, I need to know a lot of it. And all my brain does it go, "Oh! That's accord and satisfaction! What's the rule of law for accord and satisfaction?" Cue crickets chriping and 'Bueller? Bueller?'

Actually, Firefox has a plug-in which does just that. For example, I can select 27 C, right click, and the drop-down list tells me that it's 80.6 F. It converts all kinds of other weights and measures, too. :)
