He's not a ghost or a flashback. Pointless Zombie Culber it is then. Stahmets deserves a new love interest.

Something something spores, something something soul?, something something beyond our understanding.

Spores, his soul Caprica Six style, or it was Mirror Culber who was killed. Those are my Top Three theories.

Hopefully it isn't a case of that it was Mirror Culber who was killed and then Prime Culber pops up saying there was a bait-and-switch. That would be RED MEAT in all capitals for bashers of the show.

His consciousness is put into a computer, a holographic projection or an android replica.

Or he spores himself back into existence.

It seems to me that it would be trivial for Stamets to "recreate" Culber if he wanted to with access to the spore drive. Just travel to an alternate universe where Culber is still alive (preferably a crapsack one where Stamets died) and rescue him.

I don't think that's what they're gonna do though.

The way they bring him back will either be totally ingenious or the stupidest thing ever. Possibly both: so ingeniously stupid it actually works (in which case I hope they go for broke). I'll be surprised if it's something in-between.

Kind of defeats the purpose of the drama if you just bring back people from the dead. Reeks of campyness. And I liked Culber.

Oh, well. What went from cautious optimism when the trailer dropped, has steadily slipped into the "meh, why should I care about the drama when the writers clearly don't?"

Not that his death really created any drama (except on the internet!), it was quickly glossed over. And now I'm afraid that that they will bring him back in some painfully stupid way. Man, they just shouldn't have killed him in the first place.

Glad we'll see him again, love the actor & the character.

BTW, do we know what happened to Mirror Culber or if there even is a Mirror Culber?

I don't think a Mirror Culber is never mentioned in any episode.

The writers decided they didn't want to make a Mirror Culber for some reason I can't remember. It was mentioned on After Trek. There is concept art of him in uniform though.

That's my guess too, I'd prefer an android out of those options though, I don't want him to be a flickering hologram.

The news item could have used a spoiler tag.

Kor
Nah, you can't keep the main cast secret, he'll be in the promos, cast photo shoots, interviews etc., spoiler tagging this would be pointless.

I disagree. The scene between Stamets and Tyler in the corridor was tense.

For the "they shouldn't have killed him off" part, I'm leaning more towards your opinion, but that'll ultimately depend for me on what they do with Culber in Season 2 before I wonder if it was worth it or not.

1. Its the 23rd century, they can put him in stasis and fix broken necks....right?
2. Q brings him back
3. They discover the Guardian of forever and time travel back to save him, Burnham's parents and stop the whole damn war. And are then told to keep the dodgy looking cave a secret.

(all the above options are as good as any Star Trek plot you see on T.V!)

Well, realistically that is what should have happened, but I think they made it clear that he was dead dead.

2. Q brings him back
If there needs to be some god-aliens (which I hope there aren't) using Q would at least have the silver lining of John De Lancie.

Sure, why not. And while they're at it, they could stop the spore drive from ever being invented.
