Odd to have a doctor at Lt Jr anyway
It was not considered a cushy post, all the other Lt Cmdrs refused to go to some 'backwater', wartorn planet.
They've shown the CMO. not for long, but she's around.
Culber? No, it's he who makes the mention of the CMO doing the Andorian tonsillectomy. It does seem odd given he has sufficient rank and is the go to on the ship for all medical matters to the point the rest of the medical staff need to consult with the XO/acting captain after Culber is killed. But Fuller didn't want this show to be about the senior staff, and even though every other senior staff position is filled by someone in the main or supporting cast, we're playing by the rule when it comes to the CMO.He was not the cmo? Missed that
Depends on how it's handled really. If it's handled badly it's doesn't have to be camp. I'll reserve judgement.Kind of defeats the purpose of the drama if you just bring back people from the dead. Reeks of campyness. And I liked Culber.
Not that his death really created any drama (except on the internet!), it was quickly glossed ove
From what I've heard, his reaction to Culber's death will be a part of Stamets' arc this season.Man, they have so royally fucked up Stamets & Culber (I'd be more excited for the resurrection if we hadn't seen Stamets easily bounce back from Culber's murder).
Every? Who's the Chief Engineer? It's not Stamets, is it?...even though every other senior staff position is filled by someone in the main or supporting cast...
Well, there is a computer graphic identifying him as such, but apparently the producers Tweeted that's a mistake, and apparently Tweets overrule on-screen material now.Every? Who's the Chief Engineer? It's not Stamets, is it?

Calling it now; Culber will be brought back with Khan's magic tribble blood
Nice of them to haul it out several MONTHS after he has died. I wonder how gruesome his rotting corpse will be allowed to be seen.

I had forgotten that Bashir was that rank. I guess if everyone comes out of Starfleet academy the equivalent of a post-doctorate, MD's don't really get to jump ahead like they might in real life. In US military the lowest rank an MD would start out with would be an O-3 (in Navy, a LT) but often higher.
Well, realistically that is what should have happened, but I think they made it clear that he was dead dead.
If there needs to be some god-aliens (which I hope there aren't) using Q would at least have the silver lining of John De Lancie.
Sure, why not. And while they're at it, they could stop the spore drive from ever being invented.
We know that by the 24th century engineers have their own school seperate from Starfleet academy, and some officers, prior, such as Burnham never go at all. there's not a lot know canonically, I guess.Yup, Lt (jg) is the lowest rank at which we've a confirmed MD, although we also have nurses at Ensign and Lt. Presumably, mere superhuman doesn't cut it for getting preferential treatment in graduation rank.
Do they all hold doctorates? Does LaForge, Worf, Uhura, Detmer? Nobody but the MDs ever gets addressed as "Doctor": Spock even calls Uhura "Miss" once or twice, suggesting her academic credentials (if any) don't fit between rank and marital status in the hierarchy of forms of address...
It's too bad we never got a good look at the rank markings of the other doctors of Discovery. Plenty of whiteshirts to choose from if we want to appoint a CMO! Fewer good candidates for CEO.
