Cringe Trek

.... Hell, I am shocked when I see man boobs, yet those are not censored!!! What's up with that?
Different standards of modesty. I learned recently that in France (your location, based on earlier posts), it's taboo for both women and men to be shirtless in public. But go over into Germany, and nude sunbathing is okay in public parks.

Anyway, back to Cringe Trek. I cringe at the Borg Queen asking Data, "Was that good for you?" along with Data's giddy reaction to her breath of air on his piece of biological skin.

My cringe is DS9 Jadzia and Worf behaving physically romantic.
It's like anthropomorphism Sexuality about chairs stacked together.

Indeed, she has the sex-appeal of a lizard. Not the actress mind you, but with that outfit plus the fact that she doesn't have a lower body. Well, let's just say, something fundamental is missing.

I just find the whole thing creepy as hell. If I found out that someone accessed my logs to extrapolate my personality for a holographic likeness that they regularly roleplayed with, I sure as hell wouldn't care whether they got intimate or not. It's like as if I stalked the facebook/instagram of that girl in my job who I like so that I could write accurate fan fiction of her or give more fitting personality traits for The Sims character based on her that the character based on me is living in a virtual relationship with. Hella creepy, but at the very least extremely cringy and awkward. Something that a desperate, lovesick teenager might do that they eventually grow out of, but Geordi was 32 when he did that.

Granted, his motives to create the program weren't creepy, as he just wanted to find a way to neutralize the Aceton assimilators draining the ship's power, but he should've had the presence of mind to delete the program as soon as he realized he was developing feelings for it.
I'd like to headcanon that Geordi accidentally accessed the Lewis Zimmerman Program the next time he needed he needed an awkward-romance scene in the holodeck, which cured him of his obsession with dating holograms.

The TNG episode and its follow up with the "real" Leah Brahms portrays his behavior as a largely "innocent" mistake; not creepy per se.

Only if they are pretending to have sex and a crew is filming it.
Star Trek sex is always cringey because the network was super uptight about starfleet sex. Of course, compared to Dukat/Winn, Worf/Jadzia sex was downright romantic!!

I think Dukat/Winn was "cringe-ish".
Remember Winn was involved with that
Other guy, I belive before she was Kai. (Older guy, actually not bad looking at all)
And Dukat was a dog, so....
And Winn and Dukat at least had chemistry,
Somewhat volatile chemicals, which worked.

Jadzia seeing Eorf from across the room,
"Shouting" "Worf" ( with less enthusiasm than most of us muster for pie or ice cream, and certainly less than if we are offered both)
And then she jumps into his arms.
Sort of like a Cocker spaniel, but without the enthusiasm.........zzzzzzzzzz

Erm, I've seen real life couples who really, truly, love each other with - compared to tv romance - "low" chemistry.
Well Winn and Dukat have chemistry, but certainly not love chemistry exactly as it's supposed to be portrayed, each using the other for their own advancement.
Unlike pretending that your picnic table loves the lawn chair because the wind blew one on top of the other.

Winn and Dukat were kinda like Juliet and Romeo, except that Dukat didn't poison himself, Winn did it for him, and Winn didn't kill herself thinking Dukat was dead, she celebrated because he was dead and later Dukat killed her.

Well, they're like the fire cave crossed lovers. :D

The problem wasn't that he used her likeness though, it was that he literally had the computer analyze her logs so that it could generate a good enough approximation of her personality as well. I intentionally didn't raise any questions regarding the legality of the Brahms program, as I'm no legal expert and there's no clear-cut analogue for it. But even if it's legal, it's still creepy and awkward in my eyes.

I mean, writing romantic fan fiction of Daenerys Targaryen and a self-insert character based on yourself is kind-of run-of-the-mill for fan fiction. But if Emilia Clarke were to read a romantic fanfic about her and a character obviously based on myself, I'd be very surprised if her first reaction wasn't "What the f*** is wrong with you?" and slowly backing away.

I got the impression is he wanted someone he could bounce idea's off like a human being instead of someone talking in a kind of robotic kind of way. It was a work program but who we are as individuals does impact who we are as workers and how we approach problems. I think personal logs were off limits which is I think would be the main reason the computer didn't include the fact she was married. What personal info that would be provided would be small stuff that someone might put out in open on their facebook page. Like favorite movie or favorite food to eat. That was how the holo Brahams mentioned the same food real Brahams liked.

I do understand why she would be creeped out though. It looks worst than what it was. She walks into the program not really understanding the context of what went down. She doesn't know him. For all she knows he really has been virtual stalking him. Granted we are talking evolved humanity stuff so I am not sure if it makes sense within the context that humanity has evolved but then again that stuff gets in the way of good drama so I like when they ignore it and allow real human experiences to happen.

I found all their scenes together to be incredibly boring. So, not entertaining. It would have been ok in a single episode but they carried that plot over 6.

This is one of the reasons why you should protect all your personal stuff. If only he added a password or a voice ID to his personal-use holoprograms, he could've avoided all of this. He seems to have already learned his lesson when the real Leah Brahms arrived on the Enterprise and didn't act like the holographic recreation, so I think that if she didn't find it, he probably would've deleted it by himself as it dawned on him that he should've done this the moment he started loving a shadow.
