Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - Season 3

Well, that was a heavy episode.

There were some fun parts though: Nathaniel bringing his stuffed crocodile (or alligator?) to work. Paula and the family playing the fairy game. Cornelia’s little song.

But mostly, really heavy.

"Heavy" is the right word for the episode. Also, "dark". It was so different that both Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh-McKenna tweeted warnings prior to, that the episode was pretty deep and they were going to be on hand to respond to questions during the show.

I do like the actor who plays Rebecca's mom, she's really funny. But the highlight of the episode for me was Cornelia's song. I loved that she did it while the group were deep into that chaotic argument. I think we all knew Cornelia would eventually "blow". It was just a matter of time.

Hopefully, the gang will get back together soon.

Another heavy (but still light-hearted) episode. When they announced that this season would deal with Rebecca’s mental instability, I kind of had a feeling it would be BPD.

As nice as it is that Paula wants to be there for Rebecca, she needs to give her some space.

Josh is so self-centered to think that he’s the reason she attempted suicide.

I’m guessing Valencia’s song was a Celine Dion parody.

No new episode until December. 8th.

Yeah, episode was pretty deep, not as deep as last week, but deep nonetheless. I still like d it very muc, however.

Really loved the interaction between Valencia and Hector. I like that they really didn't explain it other than the fact that Valencia was bullying him, which was pretty funny.

Great little story about why Nathaniel was having such a problem with Rebecca's suicide attempt. Really loved how he approached his mom once his dad was gone. Now we know why Nathaniel is the way he is.

Yes, Josh is a complete ass. He's self centered AND dumb, a real bad combo. They've got to find a way to redeem him, or at least dial it back to just dumb.

Rebecca's finally starting to see Nathaniel as a real person, perhaps because he is actually starting to act like one. Her therapy should be interesting and funny. I hope we get to meet the other members of the therapy group.

On the road to good mental health, there will be less drama. :(

Although, imagine Rebecca sharing with the group, and the group treats her stories as a how to self help guide.

I had a different take on Josh. Rather than self-centered, I think he's just immature (though of course self-centeredness can be a symptom of immaturity) and doesn't really understand mental health problems. If only it were so simple for one person to be the cause of anyone's problems. He represents a real segment of the audience that has not dealt with mental health issues and therefore assume that they are caused by something tangible, something that can be "fixed." I'm sure when individuals attempt or commit suicide there are plenty of these types of people in their lives who think "if only I hadn't done this" or "if I do this then it will make them feel better and the problem will be solved." It just doesn't work that way, but if you're lacking the right life experience then you may not realize it.

So yes, Josh is clearly in the wrong here, but to call him self-centered seems to imply some sort of malice on his part. Really, I just think that, as usual, he's clueless.

Josh's problem is not that he is immature, it's that he is not-smart.

Detrimentally dumb.

I really do not think that he is pretty enough to survive being that witless.

I loved Paula’s ABBA parody!

I’m all for Rebecca and Nathaniel getting together but I don’t think it should happen right now, even if it’s just sex. She needs time to reach a healthy mental state.

Sad about Darryl and White Josh. :(

I hope Rebecca finally being diagnosed and getting treatment is not a signal that this is the last season for the show. Anyway, I loved the interaction between Paula's dad and Rebecca. It was really funny, and naturally kinda dark and twisted,

Josh is starting to just be annoying.

Wouldn't mind seeing more of Darryl's little girl. Cute and funny.

So weird that Rebecca in all of her mentally ill glory, seems to be the one thing in Nathaniel's life that has helped put him on the road toward being a rounded human being.

Darryl and white Josh...say it ain't so.

I hope Rebecca finally being diagnosed and getting treatment is not a signal that this is the last season for the show.
Apparently the story as set out is a four season plan. At least, that's what Bloom has said...so let's hope it gets picked up for one more.
