Could we as fan send a open letter to CBS executive to make Star Trek better

Movie Era actually. 24th Century ships look like aquatic sea-life.

Look at it like this: Cars nowadays are aerodynamic. Hard lines even disappeared for a little while altogether. It all started with the 1986 Ford Taurus. The Enterprise-D is like the 1986 Ford Taurus of starships. What did cars look like before that? They all looked like boxes. They all looked like squares. That's a late-'70s, early-'80s design.

Do you know what else was designed in the late-'70s and early-'80s? You guessed it. Most of the ships we see in the TOS Movies. That's where the Discovery looks like it fits in. The Discovery's design is even based off the Ralph McQuarrie design for Planet of the Titans, one of the abandoned ideas for a Star Trek movie in the 1970s.

As odd as it looks, I love the Discovery design. It's funky. It has some character to it. But I'm not a fan of the way 24th Century ships look. Same with cars too, actually. I'm not really a fan of the way cars look nowadays.

When people have said DSC should've taken place after TUC, I never argue with them. That's what I would've liked too.

Based on all 90 times the warp core was going to breach and blow up, I'd say it was more like a Ford Pinto.

24th century ships grew on me but TMP was the most spectacular design. 1701-E was highly influenced by it, since it even has - at the dorsal section - what looks like a set of sliding doors just like TMP's 1701 had. (Maybe it's for cargo so large they can't beam or replicate it, I am sooooooo going to rationalize that...)

Great points on how DSC's visage fits into the pre-Kirk era too as well as Ralph and historical context. :luvlove:

The Ent-D also had large cargo bay doors both on the underside of the saucer and the secondary hull. Of course they were never used on-screen.

Loved those doors too and E and refit are 2 of my favourites. I never understood though why you can't beam the shuttles in and out

As of VOY it is possible, but for various reasons including power usage, sensor resolution issues, data bandwidth etc it's not done routinely.

Looking at the balance sheet:

ViacomCBS. Is contemporary trek good or successful?

Record numbers of subscribers. Record streams. Both shows on the international most popular list. Multiple award nominations and wins, Discovery appearing on dozens of top 20 media lists, the franchise success attracted a Pulitzer Prize Winner and other noted authors to work on the show....resulted in..

8 new Trek shows on the books, for an unprecedented golden age of Trek.

So they are sure to think they are all doing a damn good job, tyvm.

RAMA

I feel like that Star Trek Show runner's need to stay consistent in technology (holographic displays and how impractical they are) and the overall optimistic tone of trek in the 90s. Also trying to stay in continuity (all the tribble stuff in that short trek for example) and the technology of the time period in trek lore. basically i was wondering if us as fans could try to contact Alex Kurtzman and all that stuff to ask them to be a little more consistent in technology and the overall tone of trek of not being dark and negitive. Of it being positive and uplifting. I feel like you can keep a show dark and still have it be good (DS9) but you need to balance it out with positive stuff. Thank you

Maybe because shuttles are intended to be used as an alternative when transporters aren't working?
But that's usually about interference between ship and planet I more meant just beam the shuttle to right outside the ship. Also you could sometimes beam a shuttle right onto a planet with the away team so they have a base to work from

Probably because they need inertia to move away from the ship.

I do agree on the mobile base thing.
