Gratitude. This old TOS fan (watching since 1969 at age 6) LOVES IT!
- The uniforms are very nice (IMO) and fit the period.
- The Starfleet Delta uniform emblems are wonderful too
- LOVED the bridge set (Yeah, it looks more akin to the U.S.S kelvin Bridge set from the JJ Verse; but hey, the color scheme definitely harkens back to the Bridge color scheme of TOS - "The Cage" and I'm fine with that.)
- Loved that they did seem to keep elements from the look of the TOS era Transporter effect. It's different; but again, "The Cage" transporter effect was a bit different in sound and slightly different in look from what became the 'standard' TOS transporter effect.
- LOVED her Communicator.
- LOVED the overall tone of the characters and setting. This AIN'T going to be 24th Century 'Boardroom Star Trek" - we're definitely BACK in the 23rd Century folks,
- As for the Klingons, they too barrow more of their look from the JJ Verse - but again, I'm okay with it.
In the end: Damn I WAS going to wait for the Blu-Rays; but if the pilot episode broadcast on CBS does in fact look this good; and I find myself liking the start of this story; I may indeed pony up to see it on CBS All Access. And like most here, I too do not think the ship shown (and Commanded by Michelle Yeoh's character) is the U.S.S. Discovery. We'll probably see it a few episodes in.
But yeah, IMO it looks good; and it looks faithful to the 23rd century Star Trek era - but that's me.
