Looks good! And now that people have seen two and a half minutes of footage and want to whine about the look, I'm cool with it! But we still know little to nothing about the plot or characters.
Yeah, looks like there's a personal connection between Burnham and Sarek, interesting. Just watched the trailer through properly, I love it. I really get Kelvin era vibes from the whole thing. Really excited now
- nice warp effect - bridge and uniforms look neat in action - the dialogues are a bit generic, but I wasn't paying much attention to them because of all the pretty pictures
That caught my eye too. Burnham's character certainly has an interesting backstory, from the looks of the trailer. And was it just me, or did her mannerisms when talking (I forget to whom), especially the head nod, seem a bit Vulcan? I allow I'm reading a bit too much into that, but I'm definitely fascinated to learn more about her.
Honestly for years before this show was announced I had a certain feeling about how it would look/feel in my head, as far as a grittier, more modern and serialized take on Trek goes. And this trailer is it. Only thing I don't like is the Klingons, but if they are the "ancient" Klingons or whatever, that would be rad.
Unfortunately, the dialogue and the acting appear lacking in polish. I know many series require some time for the actors to enter into confidence with their characters and that we didn't get to see much material about it, but that's the impression the trailer gave me...
Just settle for Chrome. At least then, you don't have to foul your entire system. With Chrome, Flash is internal to the browser.
So, here's what I'm thinkin': "Unknown object" could be long-rumored "sarcophagus" ship, as there was a sarcophagus on-board, not to mention non-augmented Klingons. Shenzhou crew appears to be the Discovery crew, except for the captain. Death that Saru senses? Georgiou. Starfleet sends in Lorca to take over, and ship is re-christianed the Discovery NCC-1031. Burnham grew up on Vulcan. Uniforms are like TNG and DSVGR uniforms, I guess?
Neat! It was a solid trailer, and some of the characters are already intriguing. I love the uniforms, and the bridge looks like it came from the Kelvin timeline, which is a positive for myself. That's all I really have for the moment. I do like what I see, though.
