Common phrases used in trek

My wife and I always play the "some kind of" game when we're watching Star Trek.

I always knew the 'some kind/type/form of' trope, but when my wife finally noticed it, we started doing the same thing.

It's more fun than I realized it would be, actually.

It's a reference to a perfect grade point average, but it occurs to me that maybe you are not from the USA, so might be used to a different system.

Actually, I am. But I've always heard it as '4 point oh'. Never heard it used without the 'point'.

I suppose that's a more efficient way of saying it, though.

Fire at will - always wondered what Mr Riker did to deserve people being told to fire at him....

Which I think will date the shows even more than TOS or the Berman era, using phrases constantly like 'being seen'.

At least the language of the previous eras was a little more theatrical overall, which can be usedin most eras without dating it too much.
