College Football 2024

What is going on with Michigan and Ohio State after the game on the field?

Michigan player made an obscene gesture towards Ohio State, after they stopped them on 4th down to win the game.

They want to stop this kind of nonsense? They have film, everyone on the field, in the scrum, should be suspended for the following week.

WE ARE HOSTING A PLAYOFF GAME!

Four years ago, Heupel took over a 3 win team (worst in school history). It was under investigation, hit with the most portal transfers of anyone, and under scholarship reductions and had been a dumpster fire for 15 years. Now we've beaten BAMA twice and are hosting a playoff game at Neyland. UNBELIEVABLE!

:D:D:D

The Big 12 Championship is turning out to be a blowout.

ASU is absolutely destroying Iowa State.

Looking forward to Oregon/PennState tonight.

Boise State fans got to storm the field (I left at the final gun and caught the first bus back to our downtown parking garage) and tore down one set of goalposts and threw the uprights in the nearby Boise River. This prompted some hand-wringing and pious finger wagging from some killjoys. Anyway, after beating UNLV (which was rated #20) and Ashton Jeanty rushing for 200+ yards, the Broncos should get the bye as the highest rated conference champ and Jeanty should win the Heisman, but I wouldn't bet on either one happening. :shifty:

can someone let the talking heads that Knoxville TN isn’t in the Deep South and is in fact closer to Columbus OH than it it is to Memphis, TN. Columbus would be closer or equidistant to many of our traditional SEC opponents. We are smack between Atlanta and Cincinnati.

Being on the road hurts us far more than the weather which is about the same until the worst of winter.

For the playoffs, SMU is in and Bama is out. GOOD. There's no way a 9-3 team should be in the playoffs with this field of teams. But it's too bad that 11-1 Army is nowhere near the bracket.

As for Georgia Tech, we're going to the Birmingham Bowl to play Vandy. Nerd Fight! :rommie: I may be able to make this one since it's only a couple hours away.

Respectfully disagree. Knoxville is right next to the Smokey Mountains, and at least from the outside, UT and the rest of eastern TN seem to really lean into the Deep South stereotypes.

East, TN isn’t the Deep South. The point was about the weather but culturally speaking Alabama and South Carolina might as well be different planets when you get past the border areas. Knoxville in particular has a completely different history and has a greater industrial history than agrarian. Chattanooga is the only place in East, TN that I’d consider more Deep South than Upper South. We are Upper South. And that’s without getting much into East, TN being in opposition to the South as a whole before, during and after the Civil War. UT was a Union Battery.

Middle TN is a mix of Upper and Deep South while Memphis is Deep South. East, Tn is Southern but there are huge differences between the Upper and Deep South. We have far more in common with Kentucky, NC, VA.

That all said we do indeed meet the stereotypes portrayed in this video:

It's Playoff time!

Like Sparks, I Predict:

Texas over Clemson
Tennessee over Ohio State
Penn State over SMU
Notre Dame over Indiana

The biggest winner in the new playoff format is Notre Dame because they can get one win in before their inevitable blowout loss, so it won't look nearly as bad.

everyone picked against us so I’m hoping you’re right. Home field is looking like way too big of an advantage in the games so far though some of it is exposing that all schedules are not the same.

I’m excited for tonight but nervous. We’re playing with house money.

Same thing to 'Bama. Don't get knocked around by Vandy or smoked by 6-6 Oklahoma.

(To be fair, I always am happy for Sad Alabama.)

You know, people like to complain about seeing Taylor Swift at every Chiefs game, but goddamn am I sick of Matthew McConaughey every five fucking seconds.
