College Football 2011 Discussion

You forget that LSU was a conference champion that year. ;) That being said, I know being a conference champion is not a requirement, but shouldn't it be? After all isn't the whole of winning your conference is to get to a BCS Bowl?

My neighbor, an alabama fan, actually said it best: It's a damned if you win, damned if you lose scenario. If alabama wins the AP may crown LSU as their National Champion. If LSU wins, it's a told you alabama should not have been playing in the BCS NC Game to begin with.

Either way, I am happy that no matter what happens, the SEC will still hold on to the Crystal Football!!

In my opinion, yes, being a conference champion should be a requirement. But I'm enjoying the irony of a conference which opposed that being bitten by it.

I agree. Alabama could run LSU off the field by four scores and in some eyes, the championship will be tainted. Not that it'll stop me from replacing my 13 t-shirt with a 14.

But it'll be the first time the SEC will lose in the BCS championship game as well. :( Again, I love the irony the only way to do it was to bring another SEC team into the game.

JSU is playing Florida and Arkansas next year. I plan on going to both even though I know they're going to get absolutely clobbered. Also.... against Appalachian State. Talk about some aggressive non-conference scheduling.

So, I'm truly shocked that the SEC didn't go to a 9 game conference schedule this year. Georgia was scheduled to play at Alabama, but instead they took that game away and are having Georgia and Missouri play. Georgia won't play LSU, Arkansas, or Bama again, practically handing them the SEC East on a silver platter again.

On the radio yesterday, there was speculation Georgia's schedule was the result of either: (a) the power of prayer on Mark Richt's part or (b) Nick Saban making certain Kirby Smart (Bama's defensive coordinator and Georgia alum) doesn't go anywhere anytime soon.

Kirby Smart was rumored for the UGA head coaching job when Richt pretended like he was going to go to Texas A&M in order to get a new contract.

Notre Dame is horrible. My friend is a huge ND fan, so I went with him to the bar to watch the game. Man that was sad. I wish I could have heard what the announcers were saying, but I'm sure it wasn't nice things about Brian Kelly.

And Baylor is awesome. I only hope Washington can make this a game, because I'd love to see 80+ pts in this game.

PS- These are the first two bowl games I've bothered to watch this year. Take that for what it's worth. What a miserable bowl season this has turned out to be. Is it Jan 2 yet?

The only bowls I'm interested in are

TicketCity - Houston/Penn State
Outback - Georgia/Michigan State
Rose - Wisconsin/Oregon
Fiesta - Stanford/Oklahoma State
Sugar - Michigan/Virginia Tech
Orange - West Virginia/Clemson
Cotton - Kansas State / Arkansas
and of course the BCS Championship game

I'm watching Baylor and Washington tonight just to see RGIII play.

I'll be watching the TicketCity, just to see how PSU will do against Houston without a coach.
Probably switching between Gator/Cap1/Outback, leaning towards Outback though.
Rose, Fiesta, Cotton, and BCS (of course, Roll Tide!)
I maaaay tune in to the Sugar Bowl, and I'll probably be avoiding the Orange Bowl.

Shoot, got my wish on 80+. Halfway through the 3rd quarter! And it was 100+ before the end of the 3rd.

This game is the complete opposite of Bama/LSU: Round I. It's highly entertaining, but no one is going to claim these two teams are actually any good. They're just really fun to watch.

The Washington/Baylor game was outrageous.

Both defensive coordinators should be fired.

By the 4th quarter, it was obvious someone had told the defense "Whatever you do, don't tackle!"

Either that, or they were winded. Fire the Defensive Coordinator AND the Strength and Conditioning Coach.

If I told you a quarterback in the Alamo Bowl was going to go 23 for 27 with 438 yards and 7 touchdowns (4 passing, 3 running), how many of you would have put money on it being Keith Price?

Not me. He's good and looks to have potential... but not like that. That alone confirms the defenses faced in the game. I think someone on Mike & Mike mentioned that Baylor's was ranked 106th and Washington's 111th in terms of total defense. I'm not saying that G3 and Price aren't great talents, they surely are. And the game was probably one of the most fun to watch.

Looks like we're not going to be bothered by defense in the Rose Bowl today. Probably won't have to worry about it in the Fiesta Bowl either.

PAC 12 Represent!
