College Football 2011 Discussion

I'm not a Pac-12 fan, but I am a B1G hater and don't believe OkSt was good enough for the BCS NCG. So, cheering for Pac-12 today!

Well, you can't say we didn't get our money's worth tonight.

Both the Fiesta and the Rose Bowls were great games.

And that Michigan State game wasn't bad either.

:techman:

It's the team in the lead at the end of the game that counts. Stanford could have nailed the coffin shut in the first half but they couldn't find that last nail. Mighty Luck's luck ran out in overtime. I don't feel bad for him. He has a long and successful pro career ahead of him without a doubt. Hear he's a nice kid, so I wish him well. I hear Stanford's band acted like complete fools yet again. What a shocker. Why does the university allow that shit? This is the group that did a piece on the Irish potato famine when they played at Notre Dame, no?

I was surprised at how conservative Stanford got at the end of regulation. Luck had a minute left and all three timeouts, but the just set the ball up for the field goal. I would have let Luck keep going.

That poor Stanford kicker...what a lousy night.

Are they still raking Shaw over the coals? They sure were last night in cyberland. Real life took over again today as work shunted aside my leisure time. I haven't kept up.

Yet another game decided by an overtime field goal.

I used to be a fan of the way NCAAF did overtime, but I'm starting to come around to the idea that change is necessary. It just doesn't seem like football when all a team has to do to win is go five yards and kick a lousy field goal. I don't know what the right idea is, but I do know something needs to change. I've heard move them back to the 40, make them get a first down.

At least each team gets a chance the way it's set up now. I hate overtime, but I absolutely despise ties.

Kinda related: This is (probably changed by now) weird high school football rules, but around 1990, my high school football team won a game 1-0. Apparently there was a limit to how many overtimes you could have then, and awarded one point to the team who got the ball closest to the goal line. That was a confusing end to a game, with the officials having to explain it to the entire stadium.

The end was a little anti-climactic, but I loved the Fiesta Bowl, two great teams with maybe even greater individual players competing against each other with (I think) underrated defenses.
Either of those two teams playing against LSU or Alabama would have been very interesting I think.

Did anyone else watch the comedy that played out in the Orange Bowl last night?

He's a New England Patriot. Fuck him.

I thought they were trying to move AWAY from scandal?
