Apropos of nothing:
Geoffrey Holder would have made a really cool Klingon.
I would rather have him out of makeup portraying a Starfleet officer, or at least a Vulcan....

Three things:
-Cast Chinese actors instead of black actors;
-Have all the actors speak their lines in Mandarin;
-Then use English subtitles.
Bingo! TNG's first kung fu movie ep!

'Dragon's Honor' by Kij Johnson and Greg Cox actually was set on an alien 'China-like' planet.
No kung-fu involved.

Now, if the episode was allegedly racist; I don't see how making the characters Asian would make it less racist.

Although interesting from an alternative casting point of view, the elements of the screenplay were like a bad Tarzan movie, which is why folks found it racist. Worked better casting African-American actors like Michael Dorn and Tim Russ as aliens. -- RR
