yeah honestly i would have wanted to know more then what we got out of comic con.
but we are also losing site of the movie dosnt even go into production until november and wont be out till december 08.

We're light years away from that time, we're lucky to get any news so early in pre-production like this.
So I agree, just cool your jets folks we're a long ways from the finished film.

* Who's pretty jazzed over the film so far *

Yeah, I've got to agree with you. I'm really excited about this film, and the little morsel of news has gotten me excited about the future of the Trek franchise in a way I haven't been since Enterprise went off the air.

I think it was the hype of the panel kinda got overblown to the point that no matter what they said, we would have been disappointing. Not to mention all the stuff they said was either leaked or reported a few days back, deflating the "impact" of the official word.

When it come to promoting films & TV series, Hollywood is all about hype, they tell you BIG NEWS is on the way then you get relly little information once the story breaks, part of that is because the Internet beats the story long before the Press gets to print it.

Hollywood is slowly coming around to the Blog / Vblog / MySpace / YouTube world, it's baby steps into this world but they are trying to come to terms with it.

A few years ago I was surprized to see websites for single films, it wasn't to long ago that to find that info one has to go to the Studio site, then to current releases or future relases section, but then you found no info about the film, just a relese date or a now showing banner.

Now you can get all kinds of goodies visiting Film websites, downloads, buddy icons, play little games, and so forth and so on, it's amazeing how far it's all come in just a few short years.

* Hollywood should be renamed into Hypewood it's more fitting nowadays *

I'd guess that many of the people at Comic Con on Thursday were unaware of the stuff we heard days ago. So for them it was quite new. But we've seen all the rumors so to us it was disappointing.

Agreed. I enjoyed the Trekmovie.com report but expected something more than what I had already assumed. There was enough buzz oscillating about that indicated Quinto and Nimoy would be casted, that was a no-brainer. I did not expect the production team to announce a full casting for all of the characters so early in the game.

I was, however, hoping to see some early preproduction art other than the new teaser poster. But then again, too early.

I sort of figured we knew just about everything going into today. If they were even a few weeks outside of signing a Kirk we'd know about it in some form. The Quinto deal has been essentially nailed down for a week now in the internet world.

I would have been shocked beyond belief if they had Kirk casting and there wasn't even a whiff of it on the web. So, I look at the whole thing as a positive: I went in expecting to be told what I already knew and I got a cool, retro poster to boot! :D

I'm a little disappointed, but it's not the producers fault that the Quinto rumor was leaked two days early.
My brother was waiting for cloverfield news, and he really got nothing (although the new poster is pretty).

I think that a big part of the disappointment is that we waited for more then a year for concrete news and got relatively little. But on the bright side, i guess we'll be getting the next news a lot sooner.
