Cheesiest Lines

troisboobs

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
What did you think was the cheesiest line in XI?

Now that I've seen it a few times, there are definitely a few, but for me I couldn't help laughing during the scene at the end of the movie where Kirk is "relieving" Pike, and Pike says, "I AM RELIEVED." I can't help but thinking he just pooed his diaper or something.

et tu?

I thought that line had many neat meanings. Isn't the response typically, "I stand relieved"?
So, the way Pike said it made me think he was making it more personal. As in, Mr. Kirk, I'm am relieved to see that you have finallly made a success of yourself.

Thats how I saw it too.

Me, three.

I suppose Pike couldn't stand relieved at that point.

^ I see what you're saying. I just couldn't help but thinking of him going to the bathroom :D

"Uhura -- that's just the name I was going to make up for you."

Kirk was very drunk. Really cheezy pickup line.

I laugh every time Pine says, "What...they don't have...first names on your planet?" -- when Kirk has to stop and think just since his last sentence, what would logically follow "last" names. Pine makes that funny with that drunken, quizzical expression.

I would gather it was a dignified turn on the old change of the captancy ritual as Pike couldn't stand, but that's just me
:borg:

He's in a wheelchair, he can't stand. Just be happy it didn't go: Just bleep twice if you are relieved...

Most of Spock Prime's lines were pretty cheesy.

No.

I thought Kirk hitting on Uhura was kind of lame, dialog-wise. Most of it wasn't anything we haven't heard several billion times before. The badass with a good heart and the girl who can hold her own type of thing.

I think it was supposed to be lame - to show what an aimless cliche Kirk was before he joined Starfleet. Any woman whose been hit on in a bar knows there are no truly clever pick-up lines.

That being said, I thought the dialogue in that scene wasn't all that bad (except the annoying ad in Uhura's order, though it was balanced a bit by the mention of Slusho - which is a running gag in all JJ Abrams shows, as well as in "Heroes").

"What sort of hand-to-hand experience do you have?"

"Fencing!"

Sulu did say it in kind of a quiet, "you're not going to like this," way.

To me a cheesey line or action is one that comes off flat or stupid. It wasn't taken as intended, was inappropriate for the context, or was delivered very poorly.

It's not a line, but to me, the only really cheesey moment was when Kirk bumped his head on the beam going to his seat on the shuttle. It was cheesey when Scotty did it in TFF, and it was a cheesey and stupid for Kirk to do, too.
